I like how so far how hrithik isn’t copying Vijay sethupathi
The Tamil version played to vijay sethupathis strengths (subtlety, nuance , screen presence and dialogue delivery)
This Hindi version seems to be playing to hrithiks strengths (swagger , intensity, action sequences, dance)
opp of what HR did in Agneepath he played down Big B's role. Hardly uttering any dialogues where the original was full of mass dialogues
Both versions seem good

The ethical problem in brownfacing someone is race.
Hrithik, Samantha etc are INDIAN. For them, the makeup is about the circumstances of the character. Someone who's not living in airconditioned comfort and prob look browner.
I mean, where does it stop otherwise? You want a deaf actor to play a deaf character? An amputee to play a character with amputated leg? An autistic actor to play someone on the spectrum?
So what's the point of calling it ACTING?
You must be living under a rock or completely oblivious to the world around you if you think brown face has only roots tracing back to race. It also signifies class level and particularly caste in Indian settings. This is problematic when the said country is already obsessed with skin colour and discriminates on its basis. Bollywood has time immemorial been doing this brown face shit whenever they showcase a low/middle strata character. HR in Super30, Ranveer in Gully Boy, Samantha in FM (that didn't even make sense because she already has wheatish complexion) and more. It's a class signal that lower class and especially blue collar job holders are unkempt, reek and are a blight to eyesight. It is a subtle class conscious marker that gets played again and again until it is etched in a viewer's mind (it's very well showed in Parasite).
I don't give a shit about a person with sight playing someone blind or vice versa. What I care about is the prejudice existing in society being amplified on screen by nonsense like this. Ffs it's 2022 and you're okaying brown face here. Even the tone deaf Hollywood execs get it.
His moves are the best thing of this song…in Bollywood nobody dance like HR 👍👍👍👍 ..Music sucks so as HR looks.. Sorry not a fan of Rugged looks.. It makes me sick as if that person is not taking bath for years. 👽👽👽🧐🧐😣😣😣🤬🤬

Brownfacing is a HOLLYWOOD problem because they weren't hiring non-white actors.
It has nothing to do with amplifying prejudices in society.
What Super 30 and VV did is makeup according to character.
How do you expect a man who lives rough to look? I am gonna bet if Hrithik had been left in his usual pretty-face avatar, even that would've been criticized. "Is that how a thug who had a rough life would look like?" In fact, that's the constant criticism you hear when heroine from lower class appears with perfect skin and hair.
Inspired from love storiyaa? 😆 Great going 😆
The ladies of kamathipura look like this: (link 1)
There was so much criticism for Gangu (link 2) and Talaash (link 3) because their female actors didn't match the profile.
And when some movie maker at least tries to make his actors look like the character, they get taunted with a label that was used to keep non-white people out of movie work. I mean, how is this remotely the same?
At some point, you gotta ask. Is it criticism for criticism's sake?

Yeah right. I suggest you step outside your ivory tower for a change to see how the rest of the world looks. Purposefully darkening someone's face is not make up, it's literally the definition of brown face. What they can do is apply zero makeup and have them film as they look, that is enough because that is what everyone is like. But Bollywood would rather have you darken your skin tone and have audience lap up the false narrative. Slum dog millionaire was literally based on life in slums and yet they had the foresight to not resort to nonsense like this. They had Dev Patel and Frieda shoot without makeup as they were and nobody questioned its validity because that is what humans look like.
