Downfall of bollywood music is due to music label controlling what to make and what not to make , who will be singing those compositions are also picked by music label , the composer has now very less power to make a song of his own perception and choice jeet ganguly said it in interview

Thats why so many composers have come out with their own label.
Afaik, Himesh Reshammiya, Amit Trivedi and Salim-Sulaiman have their own labels. Marketing is mainly digital so they don't need to dish out crores of rupees to get the front page of a newspaper or put up billboards.
Idk how good each one of them are but HR's music is pretty nice. Very reminiscent of 90s...but he has proper structured songs, and has gotten good singers on board. It looks like he's branching and signing different music composers now too...he's already done an album with Anand-Milind.
Whoa! Super-duper se upar hit!🥳

Maybe they ran out of songs to copy. This was Iconic but it was a copy
Music copyright laws definitely made it hard for Bollywood to copy songs from other places. They could get away with it even back in the 2000s . Now music companies can ask Youtube for copyright takedown if they need to.

thats the smart move of HR , he is really doing very well with independent music,,....HR was always very sharp mind person , he earned more money by singing his own songs back in mid 2000 , he said that a composer alone can not make that amount of money which i made through singing

His smartest move was to make himself a brand. He made his face known at a time when composers usually didn't go in front of the camera. Everyone used to mock him for acting and starring in his own music videos but its worked out great for him.
Now everyone knows him, makes it so much easy to market and sell songs to the audience.
Don't they have some weirdass movie coming with Akshay Oberoi featuring in it?🤔
