I agree with a member's analysis here about vellapanti. To keep a forum buzzing, the active members should have a lot of free time in their hands. So many of them who used to be active here probably grew up and are busy in their careers. The kids and younger population these days have moved on to other platforms to pass time, they are plenty. And the discussions here aren't fun either, If I stop visiting IF for a couple of weeks and come back, there is nothing new as such, it is the same members writing the same essays on the same celebs week after week. The funniest part is the same thing was happening five - six years ago when I left the forum and nothing much has changed on that front. 😆

Also, regarding members most members who are in the bolly section are older members who been here 10 plus years lol

I just returned last month. I do agree that people are busy. I am just asking on suggestions to when we come what could make it more interesting. Maybe the administration should take interest on how to improve this site. Plus, this site is an Indian site but more nri’s come here vs those living in India. Recently I had re-watched Swades and randomly searched to see if there is any thread discussing the movie on the forum. Found a comparison thread between Lagaan and Swades with a bunch of questions on different aspects of the movie. I enjoyed skimming through that thread but again some movies are overtly discussed while some are barely discussed, so it is also difficult to find the right ones which could find takers and hit the right chords.

Anyhow - I agree with the state of the forum. But I think the concept of forums itself aren’t as satisfying (read: attention span wise) as they were back then compared to the other platforms.

Reddit has a mobile app and perhaps a larger user base. Discord exists for live conversations.

My usual style is now to skim through threads, post here and there, and then leave (and then come back later). I rarely stick around and refresh like the good old days.

Coming to the design - the last redesign was a good move, except it sucked. All it did was improve the front page/articles and change the theme on the forum so it looks slightly modern. Feature wise it was a complete joke too.

Like even the damn emojis didn’t get updated. 🐷 Nostalgic, yes. But oh so old.
