Thank you for those who addressed that question for me. And you have said things that I was looking out for. I wanted to draw a parallel between the journey of 2 antagonists in the show. And also the actors
But why does the penance of one whose crimes are of much greater degree still feel more convincing and acceptable than the other? Why does Jagtap not appear creepy while P does all cringy. Both are reformed and supposedly trying to pay for it.
1. Penance without selfishness is not a penance - Jagtap is probably not even seeking forgiveness. He is content in just standing in a far corner keeping a watch. Protecting the mother and the daughter. He has this beautiful friendship with Savi..the daughter of the same woman he had once abducted and intended to kill her unborn child. Savi is not Vinu, but for Jagtap she is an equivalent...Sai's child. He is not expecting anything in return. P on the other hand has taken over everything that belonged to Sai. And she is still expecting more. While once may say that it was her penance to hold Sai's broken family...where is the selflessness. Unlike Jagtap, she was not watching out for them, she was taking over and claiming them as her own. If she really regretted having wronged Sai, how will she allow something that Sai always detested and opposed and which became the cause of all that conspired...Her presence in the house, and in V's life.
"Jagtap wouldn't even step inside Sai's house, but P is living with V in their bedroom."
Jagtap is happy with the love he gets from Savi (as her Mama), but P is sulking and despite best efforts unable to get the desired love reciprocated from Vinu and V. Because Jagtap is not expecting, P is.
2. While we may have a biased opinion for P, as we never bought her apologies pre leap, and we are predicting that she is still playing games, it is also about the art of acting. There have been certain dialogues here and there. But nothing concrete to arouse doubts. And we do have to take note that both these characters are supposed to be positive now. We are not to assume anything different of P. But it is the finesse of an actor to express so much with subtlety. Look at how Jagtap's extreme sides have been so effectively and convincingly portrayed. Where as P's character could not bring in the difference in these two versions. One can't even point out at what really struck from Jagtap's character expressions (not actions) that established his genuineness. It is just amazing how I would be so uncomfortable to watch Jagtap to feel a pleasantness in his presence.
