I don't get PC in America. Like it or not, she comes across as fake, and her acting is sub par. She doesn't get roles because she brings neither acting nor box office.

There’s nothing wrong with getting a language coach for a role where she’s supposed to play an American born Indian. She played that role for 3 years, of course it will effect her accent in real life too. Like I said, her accent has changed over the years due to her experiences… doesn’t make it inauthentic or pretentious IMO.

Priyanka was in the US during grade 8 to 11, four years. People have always had a problem with her accent. Even had to train to get rid of it for Miss India and Miss World because they teach them British English. So her accent has always been a little different, not typical Indian accent everyone for some reason wants her to have. You can’t compare her with other people, her experiences have been too different.

This is the first time I’m hearing that she was in the U.S. for 4 years continuously. The story was she was in the U.S. for one year as an exchange student. Then I read that it wasn’t even for a whole year because the racism was too much for her and she went back to India. Then there was some inconsistency in her interviews and both Boston and New Jersey were mentioned as places she was at. One of her fans here defended her and said she came to New Jersey at 13, couldn’t take it after a few months and went back to India, and then came back 17 and went to a high school in Boston.

In theory you are absolutely correct.

Reality is very different. Hollywood has always been a predominantly white person’s medium. Until the 50s or 60s open racism was keeping POC from getting work. Then it became subtle racism which in a lot of ways it’s still prevalent. Things have changed for the better enormously. But like all other aspects of America, Hollywood casting is also a work in progress.

PCs stories have so many inconsistencies that it's impossible not to think some of it is fake.

Who said she doesn’t get roles? Priyanka finished filming a movie and series recently. Also has numerous other films lined up. It just takes time especially when you film a series. It’s not like Bollywood where you can get starring lead roles in movies right away and not even have to audition. Priyanka’s worked in smaller supporting parts so far but all her upcoming projects she’s the lead. It’s not easy but she’s been slowly working her way up to better parts and hopefully upcoming stuff is better. She’s spending time with her baby right now but soon Citadel will come out and her movie is likely a Valentine’s Day release. Her schedule might have been impacted with Alia being pregnant and Jee Le Zara getting pushed, who knows.

There is no inconsistency in Priyanka’s story, you and IAmLuvBolly just don’t know what you’re talking about. Priyanka lived in the US from grade 8 to 11, she left in grade 11 due to bullying and finished school in India.

So why did she return? I mean, the bullying was bad enough for her leave in the last year of high school. She was neither American to want to return to her country nor did she have parents or spouse (at the time) who lived there. There was no major financial incentive either since she was already rich and famous.

So why did she return to the horrific place?

She didn't just look for work in Hollywood like Aish and DP did. PC actually moved to the U.S.

No matter how you cut it, her bullying story seems made up to generate sympathy.

Why did she return after 15 years? Umm because her manager thought she had potential in the US market and it is was an opportunity for her to work beyond Bollywood so she took it. Just because she was bullied as a teenager in grade 11 doesn’t mean she hates America. Why wouldn’t she go back? Now those people that bullied her probably see her on magazines, tv and movies. Some of her high school friends were at her bridal shower in NYC too, Priyanka never said it was all bad growing up in the US. Aish or DP didn’t do a TV show in the US for 3 years, that’s a much larger time commitment so of course she had to move and now she’s married to an American as well so obviously she lives in the US. Priyanka was bullied in Bollywood too so idk why it’s so surprising she was bullied as a teen… Kareena, Karan, Salman and others essentially bullied her too but she still comes to India and works in Bollywood films when she wants to, she just didn’t stop because of stupid comments. A 16 year old and a 30something year old handle things differently.
