Don't want to write a long essay but I just wanna say this I really love this movie and can never, ever get bored watching it. As a 9-year-old, I was captivated by the glossy locales, the melodious songs, and yes SRK-Kajol chemistry. I loved it even then. But as I grew up and saw it, I realized there are many layers to this movie. It really handled conflict of modernity vs. tradition in an unusual manner.

Another thing why I think this movie is iconic is because it has shown that yes, follow your heart by all means but use the mind as a tool to get there. If the two leads wanted to, they could have eloped. But Raj wanted to win over her parents' hearts and do it in a way which would not hurt anyone's sentiments.

TBH, the climax when Amrish Puri just releases her hand and says go and follow your heart might be unrealistic but it made the movie cult, in its own way. And the last train scene is beautiful too.

In a way, this is a movie which is emotionally and socially resonant even today. One of the best romantic movies ever.

What do you love about this movie? Which is your favourite song from the movie?

I love everything about DDLJ❤️

@bold I guess many girls wished Raj in their life for the same reason who could convince their parents ,win over their family members.

I don't think so people will relate to the film now as much as they did in that era.😊

I like this movie just for its fun element....otherwise it is a mixed bag for me...

I will never in a million years understand the thinking that a father can marry his daughter to some unknown person living in an Indian village....when she was raised in UK....I mean how did he expect her to adjust in an unknown family, unknown surroundings?? I have a daughter born and raised in USA....I can't even imagine marrying her off to someone she has never seen...give up her life style, her friends, her familiar surrounding.....it doesn't matter if I promised someone and its my best friend's son....

The thing I like is that Raj wanted to marry Simran with her family's consent....he tried to woo her family as well(the way he did it was wrong but his heart was in the right place). I think one of the reasons it worked because we desi people don't marry our spouse...we marry their whole family..😆

There are other things that were illogical or I didn't like the idea behind them...but the above two are my main points....but if u keep the serious things aside..its a fun movie to watch.

It made me learn that if you are charming and manipulative enough you can get whatever you desire.
