I have grown up watching Khans. I can feel and sense it how their craze and emotion inspired by them was earlier and how different it is now...
Earlier there was so much craze for them online and in real life. Even their flops used to do better than hits of many actors.
I mean, for eg, even a garbage film like Mela had managed to get good opening and did well in interiors of Hindi belt. And Dil se may have flopped in India but it broke records in UK and if I am not mistaken, it became first Indian film to break into UK top 10.
I see people no longer as excited for them as they were earlier. I mean I remember the craze for Mangal Pandey the Rising just because Aamir was returning to screen 4 years after Lagaan. Or how PK, Dangal, Dhoom 3 blasted records despite boycott hashtags. Or how MNIK became biggest grosser overseas despite protests against it in parts of India by RW outfits.
Or the time when Salman was on such a winning streak that even a garbage film like Ready became a big hit.
I am shocked at low buzz for Khans on TV too. The promos or songs of LSC are hardly playing on TV. This is rare for a Khan film. I also hardly saw promos of Zero or Harry Met Sejal or their songs playing on TV. I never realised when these films came and went. I have no idea when Tubelight and Bharat came and went.
I guess Khans should never have commented on bullshit politics, social or religious issues or terror attacks or diplomatic relations. Nor flaunted their wealth, power or privilege or high profile connections. I also wish they did not focus more on expanding their production houses, business ventures or personal branding and focused on acting when age was still on their side. Chose better scripts. Promoted films better and were known more for films rather than personal life, rivalries or controversies or political/social/religious comments.
Khans' spats with family or colleagues or rivals or media also led to cementing their image of arrogance of power and made it easier to convince they need to be brought down or taught a lesson.
Many disgruntled colleagues, media persons, politicians who hate Khans are also joining politically motivated hashtags to take a piss at Khans and let out their frustration. Aamir's brother Faisal is speaking to RW media against him and how he tried to prove him unstable. Anupam Kher is indirectly taking digs at Khans on Insta. Taunting them that his and Kartik Aryan's films are doing better than Khan films.
I have never seen such indifference in public and such organised backlash against Khans from political brass, sections of industry and media earlier.
I daresay even Ajay is doing better than Khans as of now as actor and atleast had a good grosser in Tanhaji recently unlike Khans who have had no clean hit for lot of years now.
Who would have thought that a Kartik Aryan film would also gross more than Khan films?!
