Boycott, Disastrous BO or Threat of South Industry

As per recent reports; Big production houses have shelved major movies which were green lit to begin soon, some even were on floors.

KJo: 3 movies (including much hyped Dostana remake, which were already on the floors)

Sajid Nadiadwala: 4 (1 Akki movie and another had nepo kid)

Yash Raj: 2 (Financiers and banks have backed out to provide loan citing risk conerns)

T-Series: 7 (No more losing money being co-producer in every another bollywood release. Lesson learnt very hard)

Excel Ent. : 2 (No big international production company is betting upon them for theatrical releases)

The aftermath of Prithiviraaj along with strings of flops till Lal Singh Chaddha debacle seems to have created huge fear storm in Bollywood. Meanwhile a low budget South Movie which was released with just 150+ screen around the country has now exponentially increased its screen counts to above 1500+. Its earning heavily even in overseas market.

The telugu film industry literally decided to shut down shooting indefinitely because of terrible year at the box office and fake collections. They are nowhere near to being a threat to any industry.

The situation is the same across industries throughout the country. This year alone there have been like 5 to 6 superhits coming across the South film industries. RRR, Vikram, Pushpa 2 and now probably Sita Raman. Even Vikrant Rona has underperformed. Same with Charlie 777. Films starring big names are going on releasing every month directly on OTT. It's just the fans trying to hype up and position the industry as a so called threat. Same with the Bengali and Marathi film industry. Every industry is having a lacklustre time post pandemic and looks like the problem across all the industries is the same: High remuneration of superstars and fake collections.

Add to that post pandemic people will only go out and spend money if they are sure they will get their money's worth. Like Anurag Kashyap himself said RRR had Rajamouli, Bhool Bhulaiya and KGF had anticipation of a sequel.
