Laal Singh Chadhha Four Day Weekend Business

Laal Singh Chaddha collected a poor 37.75 crore nett over its four day weekend and is likely to fall short of 50 crore nett over the its five day extended holiday period as the film gets rejected across most circuits in India.

The film has done better in the cities of Punjab state like Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana among others especially the last mentioned. Here the numbers are the best post pandemic for original Hindi content and only behind KGF 3 for the first weekend. But even here other parts of circuits are not too good as a centre like Faridabad sees similar collections to Raksha Bandhan and on day one it was lower than Raksha Bandhan. It shows the huge regional differences within a circuit while this centre is similar to Raksha Bandhan there are others which are 5-6 times better. Delhi, Noida and Gurgaon have also seen better collections.

But outside these areas its an awful story with Gujarat being in the doldrums and it was doing around half of Raksha Bandhan in CI on Friday and Sunday. South also has not come and Aamir Khan is normally strong here. There are excuses like a boycott being given for the failure but that is not the reason as that would have hardly affected it by a few crore and if the film was liked it would have at least picked up over the weekend and had some sort of trend be it at low collections The four day numbers for Laal Singh Chaddha are as follows.

Thursday - 11,50,00,000 apprx

Friday - 7,25,00,000 apprx

Saturday - 8,75,00,000 apprx

Sunday - 10,25,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 37,75,00,000 apprx

My mom wanted to catch this today but since she has a back thing and can only sit on the recliner seats, all of them are booked and even the normal seats are booked in the next show, so people aren't boycotting it but i think the enthusiasm is not as much for other movie. Length is an issue for me, personally.

2nd half is bloody too long..and amir some over acting..the hmm humm ruined the movie. i like this one only in parts..disappointment. begum looked nice and of course acted nice as well..but nothing out of this world....bas theekh hai..

the reason movie not doing well is its not as entertaining as amir movie PK. PK had controversies too...but it was bloody entertaining. Start to finish. yahan parr kuch achi kuch bekaar....no wonder movie floppy!

If she does a half decent job, it's called phenomenal and mind blowing here 😛

It has been doing well in Punjab - Delhi region but big regions like Mumbai-Gujarat it is slow apparently. Maybe word of mouth will help pick up..

So I saw it and here's what I want to say about this film :

* They added more of childhood portion of laal and rupa compared to FG which was nice as it led to Mona Singh getting some well deserved screen time and we saw the journey of Laal through some tough events that happened in 80s India particularly.

* Then came the adult Laal part and Aamir looked misfit here , Still till the first half it was passable.

* Now the second half , here's where the film lost the track . The screenplay is not good enough to keep the audience invested for the next 80-90 mins unlike Forrest Gump which was more crisp , the intension behind adding the character of Mohammad paji was right but it wasn't executed properly and led to many illogical stuffs.

The cons -

* Apart from the screenplay , the ghost direction of Aamir failed. I believe Rakesh Mehra or a Raju hirani would've done a much better job with the same script.

* Aamir was overly excited and caricaturish as the young laal singh chaddha , his young portion performance was worse than Samar of Dhoom 3. He got better as an older Sardar and was great in the climax monologue but overall this is one of his worst performance.

* Maybe it wasn't for the overseas audience but here the disclaimer part before the start of the movie went on for 10 minutes in Atul kulkarni's (the writer of film ) voice and everyone in crowd got fed up 😆

Pros

* Kareena was really good as Rupa , think she did better than Robin Wright who played the same character in Forrest Gump.

* Mona Singh and the two child actors did their part well . Enjoyed the first 20-25 minutes of them on screen.

I can totally see why this isn't working at box office in today's time , maybe it will be received better at OTT like Lootera and masaan.
