Forrest Gump is a magical movie and I felt uneasy when learning that Aamir wanted to do a remake...this feeling was quite affirmed with the trailer...
but!...
Since having read a lot about the movie (impressions of those having watched the movie), my thinking has changed.
First of all, Aamir plays an autistic man, a savant, rather well functioning "Asperger syndrome"...he seems to be a mix of the book-Forrest Gump and the US-movie one...a gentle man without an agenda. (Tom Hanks'role wasn't that of someone on the autistic spectrum but of someone with a low IQ).
I've a special feeling for autistic people and there are some very heartwarming one very well performed in Cinema (e.g. Dustin Hoffman's Rainman and SRK's Rizwan in MNIK). So, it is rather reassuring that Aamir's performance seems to fit someone with Asperger.
Thanks for this thread, my Lord :)
