I found this episode to be a mixed bag. It started off a bit over the top but found its way back to its core more or less by the end.
There is no getting around it - Dev's behavior was over the line today and a notable deviation from the character that was established in the first two weeks. I can understand he was hurt over his brother fighting with him but the things he said to Vidhi were way out of line when HE was the one who INSISTED on offering her a job in his office while very well knowing her "lack of qualifications". There was zero awareness in him about his misbehavior and he spent the whole epi stewing over his failure to make his brother happyš¤.
Clearly, we have now seen what Dev's triggers are. He resents any overlapping between his professional and personal lives....he can otherwise seem all calm, collected and even affable but the moment he feels someone is getting familiar about his personal life, he explodes as he did on Vidhi today without any warning. I guess this will cause issues further down the line in the story. He isn't all there temperament wise. Pity. It was beginning to seem like we may finally have an ML without cliched anger issues...but alas, ITV can never think beyond thatš.
Vidhi was hurt but the story jumped quickly to her trying to focus on her studying for some exam and then next morning both Vidhi-Dev landed up at the orphanage to calm their minds. This is where the epi picked up with Vidhi's interaction with the orphanage kids (the 1, 2, 3, a reason to smile bit) and Dev seeing a different side of Vidhi as she narrates the woodcutter story to the kids and Dev also learns a lesson through it. The lesson being that some people cherish the simple things that belong to them rather than getting happy over a gold plated version of the same.
Also, Vidhi seems like a big time environmentalist since she's always finding a way to talk about saving trees in every other convoš
In the end, Dev was again shown talking about Vidhi like she is endlessly irritating - something he never said in the last two weeks when he was busy hailing her honestyšš.....but today, all of a sudden he was checking off the full list of cliched ML dialogues to rant about the "irritating" nature of a girl....lol ok.....but yeah in the end he again repeated his "tum bahut alag ho" line.
Precap seems to be a lead up to the promo scene of Dev-Vidhi sharing an auto to escape undetected from the orphanage. I can only hope makers maintain some consistency with Dev's character. After two weeks of hailing Vidhi's honesty, his overnight berating of her was deffo a stretch today. š¤
