Talking about the controversial statement in question, in 2015, Aamir Khan said in an interview, "Our country is very tolerant, but there are people who spread ill-will". His wife Kiran Rao also made headlines for saying that she considered leaving the country for the safety of their children.

PK was not insulting Gods - it was taking on the sham that is organised religion and it made a lot of valid points as well. And the fact that it did around 300cr business in India shows that hardly any one was offended back then by this movie. you do not make 300cr without audiences going in for repeat viewing.

People are offended now because they are being asked to get offended by tweets and whatsapp forwards from IT cell for the past decade, and they are just following these trends blindly in a bid to showcase their loyalty towards their faith. Its sad

Meri khud ki extended family mein hai. These relatives were hardcore Aamir fans 10 years back but not they sit all offended and are ready to boycott his movies. And these were the paying audience - going in droves to watch movies as a family event. And they judge me and my family, and make snarky remarks when we do not participate in their foolishness.

may be it isn't that audience was sensible then and is brainwashed now,may be it is that audience was ignorant then and is waking up now.

PK definitely focused more on sanatan dharma than it did on other religion,let us not act as if its commentary on organised religions was equally distributed.

It is not only PK btw,as I follow SM I see that it is also coz of satyamev jayate(similar complaints as PK,people say that he didn't make episodes on issues of his religion) ,his wife's comment on thinking about leaving the country,his meeting with the wife of Turkey's head of government,his claim of Narendra modi being responsible for Gujarat 2002 "killing innocent people"

How about we try to understand people completely before being condescending towards them when they decide how their money is to be spent?

Years back I too was really into bollywood movies,now since I have become aware of propaganda I try and avoid it as much as I can.

Anyway I really don't know how much impact on collections is because of this reason and how much is because of presence of OTT services and/or LSC's non appeal
