I disagree with this view because let's say if Shraddha Kapoor or Jacqueline Fernandez got the same opportunities... would they have done as well as Alia Bhatt... ...maybe they would have surprised us, anything is possible after all... but the majority opinion is that AB kicks ARSE every time she does a film, and that can't be discredited because she has a mentor.Originally posted by: PilloWtalk_13
I quite like alia and dont like ash,but she spoke the truth. With such support and comfort,anyone can have success in Bollywood. Alia's acting is very good, atleast to me,she is lively but still there are many came like her but couldn’t sustain because they did not have any back bone like kjo.
In fact many of the others have mentors too, people looking out for them, production companies that give them their top roles, but we don't see them smashing it out the park.
Back in the day, Subhash Ghai "discovered" Madhuri and took her under his wing - "relaunched" her in Ram-Lakhan, and famously got her on the cover of magazines with FAKE news that she had been signed by big producers: the result was, creating such a hype actually made film-makers very interested in her, and she got more work... 🤪
Rani Mukerji was looked after well by YRF from 2001 onwards, they pretty much offered her their top projects, directly into her lap.
Then we have the Urmila Matondkar-Ram Gopal Verma association... why didn't he offer Manisha or Tabu some of the 5 films he done with her after Rangeela?? She even worked in films he produced with other directors... Bottom line: nobody is self made. The business just isn't built in a way to allow this to happen unfortunately. You need to have someone big and influential in your corner gunning for you in order to make it really big. Examples: SRK + YRF, Kajol + Dharma, Deepika + Imtiaz, Ash + SLB, Sri + Boney
