Its stories like this that put wrong ideas about love and marriage in the minds of youngsters. And as for trps, had they shown Imlie having a job and living a settled life but still sad or angry for her marriage….it would have made all women root for her. But alas, right now there is nothing about her that I want to root for.
In KRPKAB, Sona and Dev also separated after a fight but Sona was shown to still be living a well rounded life with her daughter even if she was angry and bitter inside. Dev had become a womaniser and ignored his family but he still took care of his work. It was a very successful show.
Point to note is male leads like Dev and Aryan are shown to emotionally suffer but still they work and keep theit career afloat.
In today’s age, a young female lead regressing so much after a breakup that she cant function in her career is a very bad example to root for.
I loved KRPKAB! That was a great, nuanced show. But Imlie never felt as realistic or grounded to me as that show. Imlie has always been hyper-realistic to me, at least since ASR made his ridiculously awesome entry. I suppose that's the reason I give Imlie the leeway I am giving it, if that makes any sense?
Bold - ITV, in general is terrible when it comes to setting up examples for us to follow. Frankly, I would never look up to any of the ITV heroines. But I do root for Arylie to get back together, if only to put each other out of their own miseries.
Not that it makes Imlie's situation any better, but Aryan has regressed too. They both have. But she is doing well in her job, IMO? The owner isn't paying her but she has kept herself busy and has turned in a lot of work and even done good in her community. She closed down that illegal liquor store, has formed a cordial relationship with the local police who all came out to help her find Cheeni( never an easy feat, especially for a woman in UP) and helped a girl escape forced wedding. She is still fighting to help others. It's just herself she can't seem to fight for. Not exactly rootable but not as pathetic as I initially thought.
I agree at this point they are unhealthy but then its not a reality. Its a romance fiction. Romeo and juliet also.died for love and we still remember them bcz it gaves us feels. Same is with Arylie. Arylie were the air for eo . How can one breathe without air. And it makes a good romance for me. If anyone has watched bridgeton. There was a beautiful seen where Anthony's mother just couldn't function without his father . When he questioned her she told him his father was the air she breathed. Without hi there is no.air. Just displayed the immense love they had.
Exactly. This is romantic fiction and that too set in a hyper-realistic world. We had ASR making his entry fighitng in a freaking fight club! ripping out car doors and windows to get to her! We had Imlie do a tandav in a fire circle for him, and that was before she was ready to admit she loved him! This is not a realistic, grounded story but the emotions do feel real to me, even now.
Bold - Beautifully put. They are literally each other's oxygen. Of course they haven't been functioning like proper adults without each other! Frankly, this is exactly what I had expected from them. I also don't think their love is toxic but it is all-encompassing, all-consuming. They are literally two halves of the same whole. The show has made it a point to tell us that they are Shiva and Shakti. How can one exist without the other? How can one be balanced and joyous without the other?

We can't expect Imlie to behave like all other FL's post leap bcz her situations are different . Their separation reason is different. They all have a solid support system behind them in form of a family , friends or a guy. But Aryan was Imlie's best friend, her mentor and a person who always had her back. She not only lost her husband but all relations that gives a person strength to go through hard times.
But she is still doing a lot better than any person in her position would have.
I hope you don't mind me butting in.I loved KRPKAB too. It is one of my all time favourite shows.Very realistic and relatable. The writing was very nuanced. However that was on Sony and Imlie is on Star plus which is a trp hungry channel so I don't expect things to be the way it was on that show.Trp audience don't understand nuance, all they care is about drama.Originally posted by: new_tvfan

@ bold: exactly and this is what makes their love so special and sacred to me.
And also its not as unrealsitic as we think it is. There is actually a term in medicine broken heart syndrome where a person can't survive his partner's loss and develops arrthymia.

Agree channel is different and audience will be different. Despite being on star they are still giving a much better contact than other dramas.
Also, KRPKAB first 2 seasons were written by durjoy dutta yaar.
And its like Imlie writers can't write naunce story. They are capable of it but it won't work on star.
