Further I like the character arc of both Geet and Aditya. Geet for whom everything was easy, roses and fairytale took some tough decision based on her perception but her fairytale was shattered and she overcame the pain with the help of Aditya and was finally able to recognise that anshuman is just a wistful dream but Aditya was a beautiful reality. Her fear of " missing train" in life is so relatable.
Aditya on the other hand was depressed and bitter and feeling the void in his life, being with geet he was affected by her eccentric nature and somewhere felt attracted. He was more mature and level headed than geet but he viewed life from her perspective and overcame his bitterness. He was a great friend who never let his feelings go and stood by her and let her decide what's good for her.
At the end I liked Dadaji's guess about them who caught the romantic connotations in their platonic relationship 😆
Beautifully expressed.
Geet was in love with Anshuman, but he let her down badly. That was her reality. But Aditya was the person who loved her without expecting anything in return. He loved her so much that he always did what was best for her, without thinking about himself.
He was selfless in his love. He epitomized love at its purest essence. And to me, that's what Jab We met is all about.
People equate Jab We Met with Geet. Yes, she was loud and bubbly. That might capture attention easily.
But the movie is so much, much more. The movie is about how a boy loved a girl so much, he saved her in every possible way there is to save a person. Pure love.
It's Imitiaz Ali's best movie because here he got the concept of love right.
In his other movies, he is not able to stitch together the character growth arcs as skilfully as he was able to here. Here, he showed how love can transform, and the redemptive power of love.
