We can still blame ITV. While it is true such things happens in the world. ITV shouldn't continue to show it in a positive light.

They do have a responsibility towards what messages they show gets across and it shouldn't be get someone married by force or for revenge and it is not a big crime because she will fall in love with you soon 🤪

I know a couple in real life who married each other twice. The first time was in an African country (sorry, I didn't ask which one) that doesn't issue any paperwork. After moving to Canada and raising a son to adulthood, they needed proof of their marriage for some reason, and they were obligated to get married again.

I said, "Congratulations on your renewed marriage," and they blushed. Just like a TV couple!

Sorry for a late reply.

Let me put it this way. Most of the ITV marriages are unrealistic and of course I don't agree with them.

In the name of entertainment whatever they are showing, is it even entertainment?

Unfortunately, TRPs are the bread and butter of TV shows. As long as they get TRPs, they will show anything and blame it on the viewers saying, viewers like to watch it, so, what is wrong in showing them?

They clearly misunderstood the BW songs.

Ghunghat Ki Aad Se Dilbar Ka - Swap brides under ghunghat/swap bride grooms under sehra

Ek chutki sindoor ki keemat tum kya jano:- Marriage is complete if the boy drops sindoor on girl's maang in whichever freaking way.

Dilwale dulhania le jayenge - What is consent? No one doesn't even give a damn about the girl's consent as if it is an alien subject.

Marriage is a sacred bond and only ITV bahus (especially the Female leads) were left with the burden of upholding it's sanctity. They can't walk out, they can't speak up and they were supposed to forgive the Male lead when the time comes.

Cheers..

Centuries before there was TV, Indian storytellers came up with bride-replacement plots to entertain their audiences.

In the story of Śaunaka and Bandhumatī, preserved in Avantisundarīkathāsāra (an abridgement of Daṇḍin's romance Avantisundarī), the heroine's wet-nurse's daughter Nandanikā replaces her at her wedding to the King of Garta, allowing the heroine to elope with the hero.

In the story of Kamalākara and Haṃsāvalī, part of Kṣemendra's Bṛhatkathāmañjarī and Somadeva's Kathāsaritsāgara, the heroine is abducted by Kanakamañjarī, one of her ladies-in-waiting, who hides her face under a nīraṅgī while she marries the hero.

Around the 7th century C.E., a writer named Dharmasena Gaṇī Mahattara wrote a storybook in Māhārāṣṭrī Prākṛta language, titled Vasudevahiṇḍī Majjhimakhaṇḍa, in which the hero Vasudeva married 71 women, some of which were rather creative wedding ceremonies like the ones on TV today.

Chapter 1 - Pabhāvatī-lambha: While magically flying through the air with Vasudeva, Pabhāvatī circles a bonfire, thus marrying him without asking.

Chapter 5 - Virayā-lambha: Caught in a whirlpool, Virayā is being rescued by Vasudeva when a fire magically appears in the vortex of the whirlpool and homa falls into it from the sky, resulting in a valid marriage.

Chapter 12 - Lalidavegā-lambha: A bioluminescent herb is used instead of a fire, and Vasudeva, trying to pluck the herb while holding onto a vine that is Lalidavegā in disguise, finds himself married to her.

Chapter 16 - Sāgaradattā-lambha: Elders tell Vasudeva, "Our local Kirāya tribal custom is that consent itself is a marriage. So, go ahead with your wife Sāgaradattā, who is already permitted." ("amha Kirāyāṇaṃ esa āyāro, abhippāo ceva viyāho tti. taṃ abhigacchaha puvvāṇuṇṇāyaṃ bhāriyaṃ Sāgaradattaṃ ti.")

There are several ways to marry! However, these weddings are strange and bizarre!!🤪

Many melodramatic wedding sequences have recently occurred on ITV serials!

Recently, a clip from one of the prominent television shows depicting the 'accidental shaadi' scene which has started surfacing on the Internet. The clip, that shows some sindhoor getting stuck to the sleeves of the male protagonist inadvertently falls on a woman’s hair, and they started believing that their shaadi hogayi, without anyone's interference including the involved two persons!!!🤪

Another bizarre wedding on TV --

Accidental wedding is one of the most frequent tropes used across Indian serials, despite the trenchant criticism it receives. Makers continue to come up with creative ways to execute the familiar plot twist, over and over again, leaving viewers dumbfounded!! The latest sequence that is going viral is from a Bengali TV show, where a man marries a woman in the most absurd way possible.

The video doing rounds on the internet shows while a wedding is going on, where the bride, Debina and the groom, Samaresh , are ready to exchange the garlands. However, suddenly, another man, Bubai , is seen pushing the groom from behind, and the bride ends up accidentally garlanding him!

While everyone seems in utter shock, including the bride, the man snatches the garland from the groom’s hand and puts it on the bride. And if that wasn’t outlandish enough, he then goes on to smear her head with vermilion.

This happens in every regional language serial; one way or the other!

How far it is acceptable? Without the consent of the bride, marrying a girl in an unusual method and subsequently telling her that you are mine????

The people who make these kind of shows are pathetic and those who have the authority to control what can be shown on screen are more pathetic. If they want they can put restrictions on these kind of scenes but I guess they also enjoy these scenes with popcorn
