Sonal Vengurlekar, who was last seen in Yeh Hai Chahatein, is set to play the negative lead in Kundali Bhagya. Recently, the show was in the news when its lead actor Dheeraj Dhoopar quit and Shakti Arora stepped in to play a new character. Sonal will play a girl who is in love with Shakti's character (Arjun) and tries to create problems in his life.
She says, "I enjoy playing negative roles. I started my career playing lead roles and then moved on to playing different roles on TV. Over the years, I feel if you want to grow as an actor and also be financially stable, you can't stick to only some kind of roles. It is important to explore even if it means not playing lead roles. Otherwise, who doesn't like playing lead roles?"
Sonal, who started her career with shows like Kuch Toh Log Kahenge and Shashtri Sisters, feels that content on TV has changed in the past decade. She says, "I feel people want to try newer things and concepts, but the audience has to get ready for it. I have seen many shows where the script and concept is very different, but if the audience wants to continue watching similar stories then makers can't do much."
