Episode 224: Kuch Kuch Hota Hai!!!
Continuing from the antaryami yesterday. BS says that it might be a venomous snake and Appu grabs his arm and runs away and sits on a pile of rocks.
She starts crying hearing the thunder and BS calms her and teases her.
BS: You ended up being a scaredy-cat (not sure if thatâs the exact translation). Why do you try to act so brave?
Appu: Who wouldnât be scared after seeing a snake?
BS: Just from the snake? What about now?
Appu: Itâs thundering so Iâm scared. (but she doesnât say the right word for thunder)
BS corrects her and Appu replies that she is not in a mood for a tuition now.
BS: So I should just listen to everything you say?
Appu gets irritated: Why did you come after me? You shouldâ
Sheâs getting up from her position but her shirts hangs onto a branch behind her and rips a little near her shoulders.
Appu goes to BS and says âVat lag gayiâ and says that her shirt tore as she was getting up. She turns around and shows it to BS who gets shy and closes his eyes and turns away immediately. đ
BS: Does anyone show someone else a ripped shirt like that?
Appu: But you asked me Khadus
BS: So if anyone asks, will you show them?
Appu: But if I donât show it to you, then how will you see it.
BS: how do you not know such small things? You donât show everyone a ripped dress like that.
Appu: Who everyone? Thereâs no one here other than you and me. And you asked me, thatâs why I showed it only to you.
BS gives up and says âYou are impossible!â (I think thatâs about to become his new nickname for her! đ€Ș)
Appu: Itâs getting cold. But you keep yelling at me, thatâs what you always do, and you will really enjoy it so keep yelling!
BS calms down and says that he wonât yell at her anymore and gives her his shirt!!! Appu refuses to take it so he lovingly lays it around her shoulders instead but Appu is still irritated.
BS: Let go of your anger and wear the shirt properly. You wonât be cold then.
Appu gives in and wear the shirt and smiles at BS.
BS: What happened? Somethingâs running in your brain, so tell me.
Appu: Iâm hungry.
BS: What am I supposed to arrange here?
Appu: I donât know but Iâm hungry and thirsty too.
BS: But how can I fulfill your wish here? We are in an unknown place, lost in an jungle.
Appu: Just imagine, what if we are lost forever? You would have to find something to eat and drink right? So think!âŠ.Idea! Thereâs a lot of tress in this jungle. Get some sticks and create a stove and cook for me! Just like they do in films.
BS looks so done: This isnât a film, itâs real life. And what am I supposed to do with the sticks? Put them on the stove? Will you eat the sticks? We donât have any of the utensils to cook with. But why am I making you understand all this. Youâre amazing brain doesnât understand such small things.
Appu: I donât want to talk to you either.
BS: Great! Iâll be right back, you stay here.
Appu: Are you really going?
BS: I really donât know how you can fake going! (It sounds better in Hindi/Marathi I guess) Iâm going to go try and find how we can leave this jungle. Until then you stay here. And listen, itâs an unknown place, we have no network, itâs bad weather and thundering, so donât go anywhere from here ok. And there are animalsâ
Appu: Ok! I got it! Come quick.
BS leaves and Appu is standing alone when it thunders with lightning again and thinks how can he leave me alone like this. BS is searching somewhere and thinks everything looks alike, how are we going to find our way? Apurva is alone so I will go there.
He goes back to where Appu is supposed to be and doesnât find her there. Appu is sitting on a boulder and smacking two rocks together!! BS comes there and asks her what she is doing.
Appu: Getting rid of my anger. You left me alone! I got very angry at you, I got worried too but I mainly got angry at you. Thatâs why. đ€Ł
BS: So youâre going to smack the rocks together?
Appu: You told me right, that in olden days the wives would show all their anger on the stone. Thatâs why Iâm showing my anger on these.
Appu continues to hit the rocks together and BS just watches in disbelief. Appu accidentally smacks her finger and refuses to show BS when he asks. BS is also sitting on another boulder across from her. Khadus yells at her that she hurts herself unnecessarily and starts blowing gently on her thumb as Appu just smiles and watches. Khadus then kisses her thumb and smiles sweetly before realizing what he did and both get awkward. âșïžâ€ïž
BS asks her if she is fine and then says: Iâm really sorry. I left you and went away so, sorry.
Appu: You left me alone!
BS: How could I take you with me and search? So I thought I would find the way and then take you.
Appu: No. You told me right that if we want to get to the same place, then we have to go there together and not in diff directions.
BS: Youâre right. Letâs do one thing, not a three-legged race, but letâs do a three-handed race instead.
He interwines his hand with hers and says letâs do this together. â€ïž
Appu gets scared from the lightning and BS consoles her and tells her to be strong.
Appu: Khadus, you are not going to leave alone now right?
BS says no and briefly holds her face and says we will search for the way together.
Appu asks for pinky promise and Khadus laughs, but Appu joins their pinkies together anyway and Khadus pinky promises her. They leave from there together and are walking with Appu holding onto BSâs arm with both hands when he trips over a rock.
Appu tells him to be careful and asks him if he got hurt. BS doesnât reply and just stares at her hands holding onto his arm when Appu asks why heâs looking at her like that.
BS: This is the first time that Iâm hearing you talk so worriedly for me right so-
Appu: Actually Khadus, you usually walk very properly, adjusting your specs and all. Generally you donât trip or get hurt, but nowâ
BS: Sometimes, you talk so maturely that you know what I feel like doing?
Appu: What?
BS: I feel like going to the jungle nowâwe are in the jungle never mind, bring some sticks, make a stove, and make whatever you want to eat on it.
Appu: Really? You are going to do all that for me?
BS: Yes, and I just proved myself that I can cook well. Speaking of cooking, I won the challenge. I cooked well.
Appu acts surprised and shakes his hand and says Congratualtions and pats his hand. đ
BS: After I win the challenge, you were going to give me whatever I wanted.
Appu: Of course, I will give you. After we go home, I will give you.
BS: Not at home, right here, right now.
Appu: Here, now? What do you want?
BS stammers to explain and holds her hands but doesnât say anything else and instead cups her face and goes closer to kiss her. âșïžâșïžHe closes his eyes and is about to kiss a waiting Appu when they hear Ameyâs voice yelling for Shashank and Appu. Appu is yelling back at them, but BS is standing silent. Amey, Sumi, Netra, and Dr.K come there.
Netra: Shashank sir, how are you? Nothing happened to you right?
She hold his bicep but BS immediately removes it and says weâll talk later. Sumi & Amey get annoyed with Netra.
Netra: And what is this? Why is she wearing your shirt?
BS just says weâll tell you later. Amey gives BS his rain jacket to wear. Appu says thank god you guys came, now we can go safely. BS says we wouldnât have found a way until tomorrow. Everyone leaves and BS stands there alone smiling broadly and shyly thinking âwhat timing Amey Da has?â đ
DK & Mai convo: Mai is coughing and DK gets annoyed that she isnât listening to him about not fasting. Mai says that Iâve been fasting for so many years without miss and you want me to miss.
DK: Iâm telling you for your health.
Mai: But Iâm doing it for you right?
DK: Thatâs why Iâm saying donât do it. To increase my life, donât lessen your lifespan.â€ïž You knew it was the festival tomorrow right so why did you go on the picnic? You always do this. Go out and then get sick and sit around coughing. Why did you have to go?
Mai: I understand why you are angry now. You went to the village and I went to the picnic, thatâs why youâre angry. Youâre actually jealous of me. (I think thatâs what she saidâŠnot sure about the correct translation).
DK: If I was then wouldnât I have objected?
Mai: But you didnât think that I would go after you gave permission.
DK: You know your husband so well? Then why did you go leaving me? We could all have gone after the Vat Purnima.
Mai: Appu & Shashank havenât gone anywhere after marriage together, and the children wanted to go so I went.
DK: Ok, then as punishment for not taking me with you, you are not going to fast tomorrow.
Mai: You decide, why shouldnât I fast tomorrow. Because you are worried for me or because I didnât take you along for the picnic.
DK: Both. You are not fasting tomorrow, end of discussion.
Appu comes into the kitchen asks the elder ladies for Chai but sees BS there making Chai and as he hold out the cups, she thinks itâs for her and is about to take it, but BS walks away with it and gives it to Netra sitting at the table. Appu asks her why she is there. Netra asks if she still didnât understand who she is.
Appu: this is my house, and this is my husband. Who are you to show your rights on him.
Netra: I donât need to say anything. Shashank sir gave me the right himself. Look, he gave me chai that he made for me himself. And Iâm going to stay here, right sir?
BS says yes!
Appu goes to Netra and stars pulling her out of the seat and tells to get out immediately. Netra holds BSâs hand and hugs BS and says Iâm not going anywhere leaving you. (BS doesnât hug her back though). Appu keeps yelling at Netra to leave Khadus. đ€Ł
Dream ends and Appu is reclining on their bed as BS is working on his laptop beside her. Appu keeps screaming to leave Khadus and BS is just watching. He claps his hands and wakes her up and asks whatâs happening.
Appu: Where is she?
BS: She who?
Appu: Netra Tai, she was sticking to you.
BS: You were dreaming of me?
Appu: Yes, but she hugged you and she was telling me that she will live here forever because my Shashank sir gave me permission.
BS: But this was a dream, not reality.
Appu: But I dreamt it right so it could come real.
BS: I donât want to argue with you, just sleep.
Appu: Tell me now, how could Netra Tai hold your hand.
BS: She did in your dreams, why she did it, how can I say?
Appu: Iâm not asking about my dream. When we were lost and everyone came to find us, she touched your hand.
BS: Yes, she did but maybe she was just happy to find me after being lost thatâs it.
Appu: I was also lost but she didnât hold my hand, she only held your hand.
BS: Whatâs going on? She held my hand, I didnât hold her hand right? Why are you asking me? Just go sleep, its too late.
Appu: No, Iâm not sleeping, and Iâm not going to let you sleep either. Khadus, tell me something, we were lost in the jungle right. And if a tiger came up to us, to eat us, are you going to tell him, âYou came in front of me, I didnât do anything but Iâm not going to run away, you eat me!â Are you going to do that? đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
BS: What logic is this? Iâm tired from all the traveling and running after you in the jungle, and I need to go office in the morning too. But what is it to you? You donât understand otherâs problems.
Appu laughs and walks away thinking âWhy did Netra Tai hold Khadusâs arm?â and BS watches her walking away frustrated.
Precap: same night! Appu asks BS to choose one of the sarees she kept aside to wear tomorrow.â€ïž She tells BS that she is going to wear a saree tomorrow, fast, and do pooja as well. She even got a mehendi cone, but I canât draw the designs. BS says he knows how to do it and starts applying mehendi on her palms. He asks why is she going to fast. Appu: Mai told me that the wives fast so that they can get their husband for 7 lives. BS asks if she wants him for 7 lives?
