As far as I have understood from plotline viewpoint, she blames herself for Saroj's misery to some extent.

Also, her self confidence was connected to Chiru's forever companionship. In a way he fulfilled the vacancy of her father's absence. Without both, she is unstable barely able to balance or react. She will be meek for sometime too (which I guess is accepted in Trp) but will begun growing to her self first with Kanha. She will regain her spine of bantering with him and slowly regain her confidence.
