because kumar sanu claim to have sung over more than 20,000 songs while he was there for 1990-1995 as a peak and was overshadowed by udit narayan, abhijeet and later sonu nigam , shaan and kk, and he is out of industry for more than 20 years now , that made me think how can he claim to have sung over 20k songs , and Muhammad Rafi only 7K songs in 30 years a career spanning over 3 decades

The 90s had technological advantage over the Rafi-Kishore era. Also more films were being made. Recording songs in the Golden Era was not a cake walk. Sanu claims to have sung 28 songs in a day, which was possible in the 90s, but not in the 50s-70s.

At the end of the day, Rafi sahab's 7k songs are still much more memorable and listened to till date.
