| Drive Correctly Bhootnath is Watching B.R. films have tied up with Mumbai Traffic Police to promote their much awaited film Bhoothnath directed by debutant director Vivek Sharma. The film has Amitabh Bachchan, playing the role of ghost, while Juhi Chawla, Aman Siddhique, little kid who plays the role of Banku. Shahrukh Khan is making a guest appearance. We spoke to the director of the film Vivek Sharma says, "One will see the hoardings placed at various places in Mumbai. In all there 20 hoardings which have kept in selective junctions of Mumbai roads. The idea was given by me and most important think is that Mr.Bachchan is brand ambassador of Mumbai Traffic Police. Here, one of the hoardings will say 'Do not Cut Lanes, Bhoothnath is watching you.' We sincerely feel that this message for respecting traffic rules will be taken in all sincerity." Amitabh had made a mention of this tie up on his blog. The Big B wirtes, "The traffic Commisioner wishes to, in conjunction with the Producers, launch a campaign on the traffic laws and regulations which are not being paid heed to - 'Stick to your lane, BhoothNath is watching', 'Observe the signal, Bhooth Nath is watching'. Some found it not having much value. But the Commissioner explained the motive. If BhoothNath is a ghost, which he is in the film, then by saying BhoothNath is watching conveys the fact that even though drivers and commuters may feel the absence of the police man on the spot, there is someone that is watching you and that your infringement will not go unnoticed - an obvious reference to hidden cameras and plain clothes policemen. Interesting."
We bring you some of the hoardings that will be displayed across the city soon. |
