Initially Aryan didn't even do anything to destroy him. He just assigned him a job out of his comfort zone and he failed miserably.

I don't think he was responsible serious patarkar as he used to claim rather he was privileged. He was Editor's favorite. Editor wasn't the one who used to assign him work but instead he used to pick his own topic he would like to cover.

When imlie topped the state exam her interview was assigned to someone else but due to his privilege at TBT office he insisted to do it and Editor agreed with him in the end.

He would insult ppl saying "apka to ek bhi article nahi chaapa.. gossip kar rahe ho" etc etc. Such a piss off party pooper. jheltey kaise the office mein God knows. Isliye to wo weather team waalo ne khunas nikali galat report bata k. Saadu kumar Tripathi. Not that ASR is joy to be around but atleast when he takes class of interns he is respectful. Asks them to sit on floor but goes down to their level and then talks. Doesn't lord over them!

PS: I know AKT has shown poor judgement as a professional since ASR came into the show. Eg: fight club sequence, page 3 coverage, humiliating Imlie with the obituary. But before that, has he ever been shown as reporting half baked stories? Just want a reference.

I am going to answer first this part of the post because it is shorter and simpler:

He has been, yes. He needed saving from every mission he was ever sent on. Because the 34 year old man is incapable of handling himself and needs an 18 year old to run through a shower of bullets to say his sorry ass.

His unprofessionalism is not new. It was always there but never got much focus... thats all.

I feel we need to make some allowances for the new Mrs Rathore here. She is like a recovering alcoholic who tends to fall off the wagon if her support group is not around aka ASR. Now since knowing about Aryan's revenge plans she is a bit directionless. Aryan and his udhar's are driving her up the wall. I believe for first time she had felt equal in a relationship with ASR and somehow, finding out that there is a chance he had been not 100% honest with her from start makes her feel unsure. Ironically, she is doing that same thing to ASR that AKT did to her. Doubting his intentions with her based on something her ex told. To add to that ASR getting Aditya wrongly arrested miffed her no end as she believed ASR to be harsh but honest businessman.

But her defense for Aditya though is irritating to us is not unfounded. She has known him to be an honest journalist. She has been inspired by him in past. He had guided her for a real long time. Longer than ASR. I personally want Aditya to be culpable for sensationalizing and wrongful reporting of the news as Aryan belives because that is a best way to take the story forward. But as character Imlie has to find it on her own. And to do that she needs to be galvanized into action. This time her motives are not purely just to save Aditya or the Ts. Because I think she is confident that AKT is innocent. This time Imlie's effort is for the Rathores. She wants them to close this chapter and move forward. And she thinks its only possible when she proves that Aditya is innocent. She is doing this to get ASR to give up his revenge and come back to living his life fully, rather than just to save the Tripathi family or Aditya. Though due to shows track record we all are thinking she is doing it for Aditya, I for one feel that Imlie is actually doing it more for ASR and Rathores. This time Aditya is just a means to an end.

Now coming to the main point of the post. It is not that we or rather I don't get Imlie. I do. I really do understand her state of mind and why she has made certain decisions. But getting her is one thing and supporting her actions is another. I get where she's coming from. I understand why she lashes out on Aryan. but it's what she says when she lashes out that makes me lose the sympathy I have for her.

Bold 1: Why is a 20 year old woman who wants and has been independent suddenly directionless because a man who entered her life mere months ago has his own past and his own motives? Is he just supposed to nanny her all the time? Can she not see things on her own? What cr*p is this?

Bold 2: What part in her thick head does she not get straight. If Aryan was out to use her. he would have not only used but also discarded her and it would have been years before she realised.

Bold 3: Her defense for AKT has only been one... 'vo ek ache insaan hai' f*cking hell kaha ka acha insaan? kay ka acha insaan? are we even taliking about the same person? She is so blind and so stupid

Plus at this point it still feels like she is doing it more for the T's than anything else. Her mother jaap has not stopped... and doesn't look like it will stop anytime soon

I am glad that the makers made it clear cut in today's episode on what's Imlie's stand on Aditya. Many times it was subtly conveyed that Imlie was more concerned about the T family's wellbeing more than feeling for her ex. But I think TRP audience needed a firm confirmation. Because, it looks like Imlie's confused verbal portrayal about the same, in the week Imlie impulsively resigns and in the initial episodes of the Shaadi track has led the viewers too confused. Good that they have course corrected the plotline.
