Ok.
First things first. This was a great start(though my heart jumped out of my mouth).
The way you started it made me feel that Shiva was dead.
But. Then comes the last part where Shiva is army Major.
Amidst the heart wrenches, there were adorable and cute moments that I loved very much.
Would hope for a happy ending(even after you threw a bomb on Shiva's camp and instilled about Raavi being dead) but sad endings will be equally appreciated (I think so).

CHAPTER 2
âOkay, Mrs.Pandya, youâre 10 cm dilated. Youâll be able to meet your kid soon. Iâm going to need you to start pushing nowâ
âOkay, here we goâ
âAaaaahahhhhhâŚâ
âTake a deep breath and keep pushingâ
âWhat the hell do you think Iâve been doing this whole time?â
âRaavi,â Prafulla tries, holding her daughterâs hand, âBeta, please. Todha aur push kar. Bas hone hi walla haiâ
âMaasi ma, I can't do this anymore. Not withouââ Raavi screams as she tries to push again, âNot without Shiva''
âWhere the hell is he?â
âOkay Mrs Pandya, you are ready to push again. Just take a deep breath and pushâ
âAahhhhhâ cries Raavi.
âVery good, one more push!â
âIf this woman asks me to push one more time, I swear to bholeâ
And her son takes his first breath on earth.
âCongratulations, Mrs Pandya! You have successfully given birth to a son. Once the preliminary tests are done, you can hold him.â
âCan I see him? is he ok?â
âNothing to worry about, heâs completely fine. This is just a protocol to check if we missed anything.â
âOh okâ
Almost as soon as the nurse holding the baby is out of the room, Raavi turns to Prafulla.
âMaasi ma, where the hell is Shiva? I need to see himâ
âRaavi beta, woh aajeyga. Tu fikar matkarâ, Prafulla assures her.
âNahi, maasi ma, mujhe bohot gabrahat ho raha hein. I feel like something is wrongâ
With that, she faints.
âRaavi. Ae Raavi!â Prafulla tries to shake Raavi awake to no reply.
âDOCTOR! NURSE! Nurse!â
***************
âNurse, bring the chest tube, scalpel and alcohol wipesâ
âHe has a hemopneumothorax,â the doctor says as she pulls on her gloves, âHe won't be able to breathe without the tubeâ
âBut doctor, hereâŚrisk of infection is very high. What ifâŚ?â
âIf we don't do it, heâll dieâ
The nurse does as she says and hands the doctor the necessities. She looks over at the barely conscious army man, âMajor, this is gonna hurt, and Iâm gonna need you to bear with me. Got it?â
He grunts in response.
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
âOh bhoothnath, tere liye ek surprise hai. Come home now, ha?â
âChipkali, I just left to meet my friends. Tujhe bhi pata hai hum kitne waqt ke baad mil rahe hai. They also just finished their tour. Won't you let me have a beer with them at least? Waise be tere saare surprises bakwas nikalta hein.â
âGadheda, it's very important. I need you here now. By the way, buyapregnancykitonyourwayâ she said quickly and cut the call.
His eyes widened in surprise. He rushes to the nearest pharmacy, breathless, and asks for a pregnancy kit.
He ignores the shopkeeper smirking at him.
He speeds home, breaking god-knows-how-many-traffic-laws on the way, and rings the bell repeatedly.
âHaan, haan. Aa rahi hoon. Bell todh dega kyaâ she says as she opens the door for him.
âRaavi, are you reallyâŚ?
âAbe duffer, how will I know? Thatâs why I asked you to buy the damn thing. And you took so much time alsoâ she answers before snatching the test from his hands.
âChal chipkali chod. Let us test itâ
ââUsâ nei. Mein. Let me test it.Tu idhar hi rukâ
Two minutes pass. And then five minutes pass. And thenâ
âAbe yaar, how much time does it take to pee on a stick? And are you even sure these things are accurate?â
âI mean, itâs no blood test, but itâll doâ comes her answer from inside the bathroom.
âHow the f*ck are you so calm right now? We might be having a kid, chipkali. For real. I mean, I know when this happened. It must have been that night I teââHe began in a teasing tone.
âItâs here. Itâs positive! SHIVA, ITâSPOSITIVE! I am pregnant! We are pregnant, weâre gonna be parents! We are gonna have a baby!â
âKyaâŚ?â Shiva said, as he tried to process this.
âGadheda,â she shakes his arms, âYou are gonna be a bandar papa, soon!â
âSachi me?â
âYes, you fool! Tera Kanpur me hadthaal hai kya?â
âChipkali, hum mama-papa banne wale hain!â
âYes!â
âHoly sh*t, this makes me so happy!â
âLet me just call maasi ma and tell herâ
âHay maaro bhogilal sach me?â
âHaan, maasi ma. Aap nani banne wale hain, aur Anitha di maasi banne wali hai!
âHai, mai toh bohot khush hoon, Raaviâ
âTum dono ko bohot, bohot badhai ho!Aur suno. Don't tell anyone for the first 3 months, haan. Nazar na lag jaaye. We don't want that for you or the babyâ
âAur Shiva iski nazar daily utarnaâ
âMain sab karlunga, maami. Aap bilkul tension mat lo. Main hoon naâ
âUsi ka hi toh tension haiâ Raavi mutters under her breath, as Shiva glares at her.
Prafulla laughs and congratulates them again before cutting the call.
As Shiva and Raavi look at each other, she pulls them together, foreheads touching.
âCongrats mama-to-beâ he whispers.
âCongrats papa-to-beâ
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
âDoctor, his O2 sats are lowâ
âIncrease the setting on the ventâ
She glances at her patient.
âCome on, Majorâ
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
Raavi runs to the toilet clutching her stomach, its contents threatening to spill any moment. Shiva is close behind her, moving to hold her hair.
âRaavi, you know you shouldnât bend. Just use the wash basin, na?â
âNot this again. I want to puke and I will puke wherever the hell I want toâ
âRaavi, listen to me. You shouldn't bend during this time because the doctorââ
âThe doctor said nothing of that sort, jooth mat bolâ she said, before vomiting again.
Shiva just rubs her back through it.
When she seems to be done, Raavi leans her head on his shoulder, âUgh, this baby is gonnaââ she pukes again before she completes her sentence.
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
Prafulla gets up from her seat when she sees the doctor approaching Raaviâs room.
âDoctor saab, meri Raavi teekh teekh toh hai na?â
âAap please dho minute wait kijiyeâ he says, before shutting the door behind him.
âAre yeh log mujhe kuch bata kyu nahi rahe hain?â she thinks as she sits back down.
The doctor and nurses rush in and out of her room as the hours go by.
âRaavi ko kuch nahi hoga, maasiâ Anitha says, hugging Riya who was sleeping on her shoulder, trying to calm her worrying aunt.
The doctor steps out of the room, âWho is here for Raavi Pandya?â
âI need to speak to you privatelyâ
.
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
âUgh, nothing fits!â says Raavi, as she flings another kurta aside. âShiva, I don't have anything to wearâ
Shiva adjusts his collar as he looks at himself in the mirror, âTho kya hua, chipkali? Hame der ho rahi hai, kuch bhi pehen le. Aakhir dhikhna hain toh chipkali jaise, naâ
He turns to Raavi in surprise when she bursts out in tears.
âAe nautanki, thu ro kyu rahi hein?â he asks, as he kneels in front of her, hands on her knees.
âMujhe nai aana, thu ja akelaâ
âAre, achanak kya hua? Thu tho kitni exited thi theri friend ki engagement ke liyeâ
âNow, I don't wanna go. Thatâs itâ she answers, as she tries to get up and storm out of their bedroom.
âHey, chipkali,â he pulls her backdown, âBata. What is the real problem?â
She refuses to look at him, until he gently nudges her.
âItâs justâŚitâs stupid. You look so handsome like this and I look like a fat pig who has swollen ankles and sausages for toesâ
âMy face is covered with zits. I used to be Somnath ki sabse khoobsurat ladki aur abhi dekhoâ
He takes her hand in his, âYou are still the same khoobsurat ladki. Teri surat bahar se nahi, andar se aati hai, meri jaan. Your heart is so f*cking beautiful, Raavi. I love that about you. Itâs my biggest reason for loving youâ
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
The doctor checks his breath.
âIt's clear, but not equalâ she sighs, grabs her cup of coffee and sits down to monitor his sats every hour.
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
âAww, Raavi. You look so prettyâŚâ says Anitha, as she brushes her hand down Raaviâs dress.
âHe na? Nazar na lage meri beti koâ Prafulla says fondly, as she cracks her knuckles against her temple.
âShiva,â Raavi calls out to him when he walks past her room, âMai kaisi lag rahi hoon?â
âGorgeousâ he thought as she twirled in place for him.
Raavi looked absolutely stunning in her peacock-green saree covering her growing bump, visibly glowing due to her pregnancy, with her long hair falling over her shoulder, and her favourite jhumkas dangling as she moved.
Shiva leans in to whisper in her ear, âIf you weren't already pregnant, you would definitely be by tonightâ
Raavi blushes a deep crimson, right before she starts to cry.
âArre, ab maine kya kiya?â asks Shiva, exasperatedly.
âIt's just, you have literally never been this nice to me beforeâ Raavi explains through her tears.
âChal, jhooti. Donât tell me youâve already forgotten how we made this babyâ Shiva winks at her, before moving to wipe her face.
âAhem, ahemâŚâ
They jump at the sudden interruption. Prafulla looks at them pointedly.
âCome now or youâll be late for your own godhbharaiâ
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
*BEEP BEEP*
The clock reads 2 A.M
âThe patient is stable, and I am going to take a short napâ
âWake me up if something changesâ the doctor instructs her nurse before leaving.
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
âHow did a chudail like you give birth to such a beautiful pari?â Shiva wonders out loud, as he sits next to Raavi on the hospital bed, holding their daughter.
âGadheda, I just gave birth and you still want to fight with me?â
He chuckles in response, still looking down at their baby.
âYou know, you were so strong today. I wouldnât have been able to do that in a million years,â he looks to Raavi, âTu meri chipkali hogi, but my god are you gonna be an amazing momâ
âI am really proud that you are my daughterâs mother. I love you both so fricking muchâ he says, before leaning down to kiss his wife and daughter on their forehead.
âHey bholenaath. My husband might be an idiot, but he loves our daughter so much. Please make sure nothing bad ever happens to our family. Please humara dhyaan rakhnaâ, Raavi prays silently as she looks upwards before smiling at her favourite people in the world.
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
âMrs Prafulla, your daughter had a major bleed, but thankfully we caught it just in time. Nothing to worry about nowâ
Prafulla lets out a breath of relief.
âIt happened because one of her uterine vessels burst open, and the bleeding didn't stop so we had to open her up to cauterize the vessel and stop the bleeding. Her blood pressure shot up which is why she faintedâ
âSo, is she stable for now? Can I meet her?â
âSure, in a few hours once she is consciousâ
âWhat about my grandson? How is he doing? Can I meet him now at least?â she asks worriedly.
âHe is fit as a fiddle. He is in the nursery. You can definitely meet himâ the doctor answers, smiling.
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
âNahi, bilkul nahiâ
âHamare bacha ka naam Meenakumari nahi ho saktha. I don't care how much you loved her, she is your ex. I don't want visuals of her kissing you everytime I call for our daughterâ
âThen it can't be Chandhni shikha, eitherâ
âFineâ
âFineâ
âChoose one fingerâ Raavi says, as she extends her hand towards him, the index, middle and ring finger pointing out.
He chooses the index.
âRiyaâ
âRiya Shiva Pandya. I love it,â Shiva grins.
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
âBreaking news! We have received an update from our corresponder over at Ladakh,â the T.V played in the background as Prafulla sat with her head in her hands.
âOver to you, Priya Manohar, straight from the war zoneâŚâ
At the mention of âwarzoneâ, Prafulla lifted her head to see a young reporter standing in front of what seems to be a military camp on fire. She instructs the receptionist to turn up the T.Vâs volume.
âThank you, Prashant. As you can see, there has been a major bomb blast in the vicinity. Many of our Indian soldiers have been injured, and a few have even succumbed to their injuries. While the reason behind the blast is yet to be determined, the few officials weâve managed to get in contact with have assured usâŚâ
LadakhâŚmilitary baseâŚsoldiers succumbing to their injuries. The sound of the news fades to the background as Prafulla puts everything together.
âShivaâŚâ she thinks, before bursting into tears.
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
WaaaaaaahâŚwaaaaaaaahâŚ
Riya is crying while Raavi soothes her, trying really hard to not follow her daughterâs example.
âKya hua, chipkali? Why is my daughter crying so much?,â Shiva holds his arms out for Riya, cooing to her, âCome to papa, my love. Come to papaâ
He bounces her around until she finally falls asleep. With Riya resting against his chest, he looks over to Raavi who had fallen asleep on the couch.
Her t-shirt was covered in baby spit and her hair hadnât been touched with a comb in days. Her eyes were sunken in from not having slept properly for a week.
To Shiva, she was still and always will be the most beautiful woman in existence.
He kissed both of his ladiesâ heads, âSleep tight, my angelsâ
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââ
âMaasi, mama kidhar hai?â asks Riya.âWoh teekh toh hai na? Aur mujhe ek baby brother hua hai ki sister? And where is nani ma?
âPatience, bacha. Your mom is just fine. She is resting nowâ answered Anitha, as she smiles and smooths hernieceâs hair.
âYou know, she was so strong today when she gave birth. Braver than when she had you. She had to do it without your papa this time. She was a fricking warrior queen in that room today.
Both your parents are so brave, na?â
Riya nods, feeling extremely proud of her mother. But she still couldnât keep her curiosity down.
âHa lekin, do I have a brother or a sister now?â
âYou have a baby brotherâ
Riya grins, jumping up and down in excitement and hugs her maasi.
âYay, I have a baby brother?! When can I meet him?â
âWe can meet him now if you want toâŚHeâs is in the nurseryâ
âThen letâs go!â
Riya tugs at Anithaâs hand until she gets up and follows her niece, laughing.
***************
Riya canât stop staring at her brother.
âHe is so small. Look at his hands,â she pokes at his fingers, âTheyâre so cute!â
âBe gentle,â Anita instructs.
Riya beams at her baby brother, before placing a small kiss on his forehead.
***************
Raavi wakes up from sedation.
âShiva?â she calls out, looking around the room, only to see her Maasi maâs tear stained face.
âMaasi ma?â
âKaisa lag rahi hai? Pet me dard hein kya?â she asked, her voice laced with concern.
âAbhi thoda hain, shaayad pain medication dhiya hain shaayad isliye utna bura nahi hai. Aap ne baby Ko dekha?â
She nodded in affirmation, âBilkul tumpe gaya heinâ
Raavi smiles in response.
âWaise, Shiva kidhar hein? Abhi thak toh use aaja jana chahiye tha, na?â
âPata nahi kaha mar gaya mera bhoothnath?â she muttered.
When Prafulla begins crying uncontrollably at that, Raavi tries to go to her before her aunt gets up and gently pushes her to lie back down.
âMaasi ma, kya ho gaya? Mein theek hoon, toh aap aise kyun ro rahe hain?â
âRaavi, betaâŚâ Prafulla begins, before realising she didnât know how to tell her daughter about this.
âKya hua, maasi ma? Tell me. Pleaseâ Raavi urges.
âBetaâŚWoh ShivaâŚâ
âShiva? Shiva ko kya hua? Woh teekh tho hein?â
âNews meâŚwoh bol rahe the ki Shiva ke base meââ she hiccupped.
Raavi listened with rapt attention,âAur?â
âAur woh keh rahe the kiâŚâ.
âMaasi ma, woh kya keh rahe they?â
âKi uski camp meinâŚâ
âUski camp meinâŚ?â Raavi prompted.
âThere was a bomb blast. It seems there were several casualtiesâ Prafulla finished quietly.
âWhat?â she asked, dazed.
âThere was a bomb blast. And there were a few casualtiesâ Prafulla carefully repeated.
âNo. No, no, no. Noooooo!â

I'm very very intrigued to know what happens, please no heartbreaks! Only happy reunions with happy tears and love â¤ď¸
This is very sentimental when you think of all the jawaans fighting everyday at the border so that we can sleep peacefully! Beautifully done.
