Honestly, I disagree with the takes that say Imlie didn't have a real "choice" in this. She had just learned about negotiation from Aryan, like two seconds before. She could have pulled out a counter offer, she could have even countered with "make AKT leave this Bhaskar Times job and make him find a new one." There were many ways Imlie could have gotten Aryan to back down from this marriage proposal, because she JUST said, "I know you have a big heart." She believed, (at least from the writing we've seen so far) that Aryan and her had a "true friendship" she KNOWS all the things he's done for her, regardless of whether she thinks it was to his "benefit" or not. So even if she thinks now, "Ok Aryan only helped me to get revenge" there are other ways besides a wedding/fake marriage that Imlie can suggest Aryan keep his revenge but save Aditya from disgrace. Now whether or not Aryan would have agreed is a different story, but I just think we can't assume Imlie was helpless/trapped here like other FLs have been in contract wedding scenes you know. She had months worth of knowledge on Aryan and the Rathores to go on to try to convince him of something other than a wedding, and she should have known calling his plan "besharam and gatiya" wouldn't have helped change his mind lmao. She could have just said, "If you want me separate from Aditya, I'll apply to college in another city, I'll promise on Sita Maiya to never see the Tripathis again" etc. If she'd even ASKED once, why he wants to "marry" her, he would have caved and told her everything about Meethi's promise if she'd pushed him enough. He would have at least given his two cents on why he thinks Aditya's destroying her life.
So I of course have sympathy for the trauma Imlie's going through, but a SINGLE call to her mother or even Satyakaam and both of them would have either made her 1) feel better about marrying aryan 2) or they probably would have told her to tell the tripathis to f*ck off and save their own son themselves.
There were other ways she could have convinced Aryan of something else, she could have threatened to call/tell his mom/sister, she could have plotted her own revenge, etc.
And there are countless ways (that mainly include calling her Mother or Satyakaam) that imlie can feel better about the choice she's made.
I think I have this issue with Imlie's writers, not her, because it's clear from how she forgets/remembers Amma/Satyakaam at odd times, that they're not making her consistent. They're relying on the easy choice (she still "cares" for Aditya) instead of the nuanced choice of "let me think long and hard about whether the tripathis deserve me, or whether I deserve MORE than the tripathis."
Idk i had a lot of thoughts that boil down to: the writers need to make Imlie more consistent, and Aryan isn't even one iota of a villain here (at least not to the audience) because the writers make it very clear he's marrying her not to get revenge on Aditya, but for her own benefit. Obviously he hasn't told her this, and the revenge on aditya is the extra buy one get one free offer here, but I think we should examine this wedding differently from other other forced weddings/contract weddings we've seen.
