Dee, I so agree with @bold. That more than anything exhausts me. The sheer stupidity. Why?? When the show started, I thought of her as an old soul. Focused on her dreams and aspirations. So, why after being separated from patrakaar for what is it now 2-3-4months, who's counting, why is she not able to just hit a pause button, think before she speaks and acts. That is progressive. Not this I haath jodoes, hate me if you want but spare my family bull shit. Completely skews the power dyanamic. Though I do think she will have the upper hand in other ways, once they are married. Like I said, I cannot reconcile the writer's vision of a progressive Imlie with what we know and believe to be true progressive traits.
ITV does not have progressive females. They did in the 90s, with Priya Tendulkar, Neena Gupta, Mandira Bedi, Renuka Shahane, Shefali Chaya, etc. Those were some good shows.
Even Tara was a good show. Nows its all marriage, EMA, remarriage, another EMA, another marriage, rinse and repeat.
They don't understand the concept of moving on, they should see shows like Tara, Hasratein, Shanti, Kora Kagaz even. Those were strong females not whatever is happening in TVs now.
Ughhhh!
The sole reason for me to watch this show honestly is seeing that one non toxic male lead. But only time will tell what happens..
