Does anyone know what to make out of Zelensky? He was an actor/comedian not so long ago and clearly even now he is a showman, which is clouding my judgment about him! Is he the war hero and the brave, principled leader that all of the western media is portraying him to be or is it just braggadocio, him putting on an award winning performance designed to impress the global audience? Obviously, Ukrainians are putting up a splendid fight so props to them and obviously they have the backing of NATO but how much of this guy's bring-it-on bravado is real and how much of it is fake? Or, is it unimportant in the grander scheme of things?
What I do have a problem with is the west's holier-than-thou approach in all things war. How quickly they paint themselves as "the good guys" and how easily they forget the war crimes in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria to name a few nations, is astounding! It's one thing to help a nation that's under attack and another to increase the decibel levels of the drumbeats of war with irresponsible rhetoric, especially on social media. If you want to convey something to Putin, do it using the proper channels, not via media or worse on social media!
It's impossible to tell if Putin is bluffing with his nuclear threats but if he is cornered and if he is losing face in the eyes of the world, I have no doubt that he is capable of taking actions that would prove catastrophic to the entire world, his country included. They have super EMP weapons which can melt nuclear reactors, shutdown power grids, shutdown transportation and financial systems, and heck shutdown even the internet! How's that for economic superiority? How's that for tweeting?!
As of now nobody's toning it down and if some of these elected officials and career bureaucrats heavily influenced by Hollywood and by visions of glory continue their belligerent actions, this is not going to end well for anybody. Somebody's got to be the adult in the room and sure as hell it isn't going to be Putin.
Just a few random thoughts.
