Recap of Jamuna stopping her jeep after realizing that the white jeep behind her had disappeared. She turns back and searches and evenually finds the jeep. The driver and another policeman in the front seat appear to be dead and there is smoke coming from the front of the jeep. Jamuna is shocked that the briefcase with the gold is missing. She calls up ACD or JC and reports the loss.

(Meaningless scene) Jr RK, Kutti sathan and another kid (no clue who it could be!) are in RK's yard and playing cricket with a tennis ball. RK is seated nearby reading a paper and Jr RK calls him to join them. RK agrees and they play cricket with RK batting first. He gets out soon Jr starts to bat. He throws a couple of balls and begs off playing, saying he is tired. (hmm.. very active businessman is tired after 2 overs of tennis ball cricket with under-10 kids?) Kids continue playing. Kitchen appears and RK instructs him to feed the kids anything they want and that they would be there all day. RK looks at the kids and appears to get emotional.

A car (or van?) stops at SKPD's house and 4 young men alight. As they approach the door, SKPD comes out eagerly and stops them. He shouts for Sarasu to bring the aarthi saying his boys have done a good job after a long time! Sararus obliges but mumbles, griping at what's happening. (Adhu seri, Sarasu thirudi jailukku poyi vandava - ava SKPD aatkala korai solraalaa? DO nallavae kaththu kuduthirukkaa!) When SKPD scolds her for mumbling, she speaks the required lines loudly. Inside the hourse, SKPD places the briefcase and calls up Muthulaksmi (Charu)'s home. He gloats about how Charu has been trying in vain to fight him but he has proven his powers. When prodded, he says you and the policemen should go to a corner and cry. He says that her plan to put him away by recovering his gold was wasted and that the briefcase is with him. She then responds .. listen to me, your men are strong, eh? They beat up policemen and took away the briefcase? SKPD says, yes, my men are singa-kuttinga. She challenges him to open the briefcase and see ..tadaa .. SKPD cuts the call and slowly opens the briefcase - all it has are bricks! SKPD is furious and the phone rings. Charu says, enna, onnodaiyum, onn aatkal mandayilum irukkiradhu briefcase-layum irukka? SKPD kicks the briefcase to the floor and glares at his men.

Manisha is watching over Rakki when Omni comes in to the room. Manisha is first speechless and then addresses Omni by name and introduces herself. When Omni is surprised she knows her, she explains Anitha told her about her (Omni). Omni's phone rings and Karthik learns she is in Rakki's hospital room and says he will be there in 10-15 mins. When Omni asks Manisha how she was there. Manisha says she too is like Omni and then explains that she too cares for Rakki. Omni then praises Shanthi for doing so much for Rakki. Omni then starts to enquire about Manisha and her husband, when her phone rings again. Karthik says he needs to go to the bank and will be stuck there for a while and hence is sending another car to the hospital. Omni leaves.

JC & ACD are talking outside Police bldg when Charu pulls up in her car. JC is happy that things went the way they had expected and Charu's turn to praise him for suggesting switching the briefcase and ensuring it was safe. She asks her man to bring over the gold and he has an identical briefcase with the real deal. AC Shankar is watching from nearby - aamaam AC rank police aalukku velaiyae illaiyaa? JC is happy that they managed to fool SKPD. ACS takes note. Charu declares she will dontae the 10% which JC says she will be rewarded for finding the gold and JC is all praise for her.

Anitha comes to Rakki's hospital room and sees Manisha sitting alone. When asked, Manisha says Dr took him for some tests. Manisha then tells her of Omni visiting there. Anitha is shocked when she learns Manisha introduced herself and answered Omni's questions. Manisha tells her not to worry and then reveals that Karthik does not know her as Manisha - he knew her as Kaavya. (Idhu thevaiyaa? sigh)

Update for Monday, May 5, 2008:

Scene 1: Commissioner's office - Commish, JC, Shankar, ACD and Jamuna are seated. Commish gets the suitcase with the gold bricks, an assessor comes in and certifies that they are sokka thangam, Commish lavishes praise on Charu, JC, ACD and Jamuna. Shankar looks like he has just chewed on a whole pavakkai😃😃 Commish thanks all the staff who supported ACD and Jamuna's team, JC says that they still do not have evidence to link SKPD to the crimes and maybe Kanakku can be cornered to give evidence. Commish agrees that if Kanakku gives evidence, that will be great, and JC suggests that they give Kanakku protection, since SKPD will finish him off if he becomes an approver. They leave, and as Jamuna is taking charge of the suitcase, Shankar congratulates her with a pained expression on his face. The camera freezes on his face. Now, if only the face had been ACD's (wishful thinking!)

Scene 2: SKPD's house - a police jeep comes in, and Jamuna comes marching into the house, together with two policemen. She comes in and calls, "Shankarapandi, Mr. Shankarapandian, Shankarapandi (her chella name for SKPD)." SKPD comes down and sits down while she informs him that his suitcase with the bricks is now in police custody and he is wanted for questioning. Meantime, his lawyer comes in and says that he cannot be questioned as he is a heart patient, and produces a medical certificate to that effect. Jamuna says that she can take him to the police station and question him, but the lawyer says that he already has anticipatory bail, so that too is not possible. According to the lawyer, she can question him only if she will give a statement saying that she will take personal responsibility for his health. Jamuna leaves the house. Apparently, they didn't think that SKPD could think out the loopholes. SKPD thanks the lawyer.

Scene 3: Our dear friend Srini is out jogging, and along comes a white van and out comes Kandhu. Srini asks him where he has been gone all these days, and Kandhu tells him he had gone visiting his mamiyar. Srini asks him when he got married, and where his mamiyar's house is. Kandhu tells him a long rambling story about a peria mamiyar and chinna mamiyar and so on, and finally offers to take Srini with him when he goes the next time. Srini thinks that this is the guy who couldn't handle a full toss, now he is coming out and hitting even a googly (Obviously, CR and his script writers are watching lots of cricket these days). Kandhu tells him that he told Abi that she was SKPD's daughter and here I could not follow what he was saying, but I gather he was saying that he knew Srini's tricks did not amount to anything here. Srini decides that he cannot handle this and jogs away from the scene.

Scene 4: SKPD in his garden, thinking. Abi comes and asks him what his worry is about, is it about losing the gold bricks and Jamuna coming in and questioning him, and he says that all he worries about is her. He gives this paasam filled speech about how he used to worry about her whereabouts and how Muthulakshmi stole her and abandoned her, while she herself lived in luxury and how his heart thavichu pochu during all this. He earned a lot of money by questionable means, all for the sole purpose of decorating his beloved daughter with gold and diamond thalis. (This is an overkill of paasam) When Abi questions about OKS being sent to kill her mother and herself, SKPD says it is all a lie, OKS is Muthulakshmi's man, and casts aspersions on ML's character, saying she had an affair with an older man from Malaysia, and how it hurt his heart, and so on. Abi is listening to all this with her usual expression. FREEZE .....

SKPD continues his story on Charu. Says that Charu was carrying on with an old Malaysian millionaire and when SKPD asked her about it, denied her affair."But one day, suddenly, she ran away with you. Either that Malaysian did not want to have you around or she herself felt that
having you with her may not be good for her, she left you in that kovil mandapam and ran away. Tell me amma, who will just give this kind of wealth to some one unknown with out any benefit??? Your mother is after money. How many times did u go and beg her?? She never relented. But once, I knew that you are my daughter, I wanted to bequeath every thing I have for you and wanted to go away some where. Charu is out to incriminate me somehow!!! I have asked the auditor and lawyer to come , I will transfer every thing on to your name and will go away." Abi is moved by daddy dearest's narration - " appa, i wanted you to live with amma but now I know why you never wanted that. I will never leave you and go. From now on Charu is not just your enemy, mine as well " - leans on SKPD who sports a wicked gleam - "aha , here is my Oscar".

Kanakku is in the cell - 2 policemen are dressed as prisoners and dole out "dharma adi" to kanakku. Kanakku points out IPC rule -" convicts can not be clubbed with a person under judicial custody!!" But the two policemen hit kanakku asking for the "rishi moolam and nathi moolam " of the gold - Kanakku refuses to part with any info.

Hospital - Rakhi is undergoing treatment. Arjun's mom is visiting. RK maanga comes to visit. Asks Anitha as to why he was not informed about Rakhi. Anitha says that only because of this issue, she had to quit his house and thought that maanga may not like her involvement. RK says that helping the needy is a virtue and he is happy that his daughter is playing guardian angel -"Omni kooda found fault with you but ippo helps this child. I am glad that you help some poor boy" Anitha talks within herself " I am doing this only because Rakhi is our child, athu theriyame, u praise me??" Manisha comes, falls at maanga's feet. RK blesses and talks philosophically - "God has some plans, namakku thaan puriyalai, I will absorb all the expenses for this child" - Manisha gives some emotional look at "could have been" FIL , Anitha stands like a statue....

Abi comes to meet kanakku - the warden warns kanakku about getting beaten in the jail -" adichanga nnu sonne, tholainje nee" - Abi probes about Kanakku's swollen face et al but kanakku says that he fell down near the water tank. Abi does not believe. Kanakku wants to be bailed out and Abi says that she is trying to get him out -"PP said that some relative of OKS is gunning for you and if you come out, you might be killed. Based on that your bail got rejected. Do not worry, I will get u out but until then just keep quiet, ok?" Kanakku finally asks her to hurry up - " innum konja naal inge iruntha ayya kku dhrogam seyyara mathiri aagidum" - Abi is shocked.

Jammu comes to the jail - sees Abi coming out and walks away from her. But Abi stops her and starts a conversation - Jammu wants to know why Abi visits the prison often and Abi replies that all the efforts of Jammu to keep daddy in the jail will fail. Jammu says that it is her duty to catch the criminals. Abi says that her daddy can "oda oda virattufy" people who gun for him. Jammu says " appa vaipathi pesara mathiri illiye?? yaaro pei virattaravan pathi pesara mathiri pesaringa??" Finally Abi vows to divest Jammu of her uniform. Jammu says that she plans to keep her uniform until she retires -"and your dad will be in the prison garb until he dies" -Jammu goes off ( ethukku vanthaa?? enge poraa?? Abi kooda pesa Government diesel waste panni, jail gates varai vanthuttu poitta??? Roja vendam, logic, reason lam kekkathe, othai paduve)

Arjun comes home , sees Manisha sitting, asks amma about Anitha's activities and amma "pottu kuduthufies" - " yaaro oru ponnai kondu inge vaichirukka, na epdi kekka?? Arjun wants to throw Manisha out but amma promises to do the needful soon.

Charu is waiting for Indran - wants him to investigate on the murder of OKS. Indran wants to know as to why Charu does not buy Kanakku's story. Charu says that she is convinced about kanakku being innocent -"SKPD is behind this. I want all the details , can u do it?" Indran wants to know if Charu has lost faith in the police investigation. Charu says that all the movements of the police are informed to SKPD and he slips out. Indran understands and agrees to do some private investigation. Charu gives a fat advance. Indran leaves... Charu challenges the camera..." SKPD, unnai vida maatten"

Opening scene: Anita and Manisha are getting ready to go to the hospital and talking. Manisha says that once Rocky is discharged, she is going to take him back with her. Anita appears to have misplaced her cell phone, Manisha goes upstairs to get hers and Anita sees Karthik and Arjun coming into the house. She looks upstairs nervously - thank God, Manisha is almost out of sight - looks strangely at A and K. Arjun asks if she is planning to go to the hospital, she nods, he asks if she can't even get them some coffee, so she goes to the kitchen, takes out one packet of milk and puts it on the stove to boil. She runs up to warn Manisha and Manisha says she knows, she will stay out of sight. In the meantime, the milk boils over (Anita didn't know that if she had to leave the place, she should have lowered the flame. Poor thing, shouldn't blame her, obviously has no experience in the kitchen, thank God, her MIL is not there), Arjun goes in and turns off the stove. He calls her downstairs, tells her that the milk boiled over, and asks her where she was. She has this guilty look on her face, makes the coffee, takes it to them, he asks her where her friend is and then asks for her name. She says Manisha and Karthik looks puzzled. Arjun asks him what the matter is, and he says that the name sounds like a North Indian name, then he talks about how he, and Shanthi, have both been affected by Rocky, and Manisha is listening from upstairs. Arjun and Karthik leave and Anita runs upstairs to see Manisha sobbing.

Scene 2: Indran is showing someone a photo and asking him if he recognizes the person in the photo, the person says he is new there and directs him to the owner of the store nearby. Indran goes and talks to him, he asks if Indran is a cop, says he is an honest man trying to make a living honestly, recognizes the man as the one who got murdered (OKS) and says that OKS spoke to someone from the pay phone at his store, but he did not know what was spoken.

Scene 3: A police jeep draws up outside a house and Jamuna alights and tells the driver to honk loudly. Nothing happens, so she tells the driver to continue to honk, a crowd gathers and finally Kanakku's wife emerges from the house. Jamuna taunts her with knowing that the gold was hidden under the tulasi maadam, and she denies it, J tells her that she had better come clean or she will give her naalu adi and odhai and everything will come out. Has she not heard of the term police brutality? Does she not know that she must have grounds to take someone in for questioning? She has already exposed her ignorance of procedures at SKPD's place, now she is making the police look really bad. CR definitely has something against the TN police, he makes them say things like this.

Scene 3: Kanakku's wife is leaving to go somewhere, she sees two other women coming, so she asks one of them to go with her and the woman declines, saying that she cannot associate with a woman who has collaborated with her husband and hidden gold bricks and may have even committed some crimes. I would have expected the woman to show some sympathy for her.

Scene 4: Indran is reporting to Charu that he has traced OKS's movements, has the number of the vehicle that OKS was traveling in, and once the vehicle is traced, he will have some answers for Charu. As he is leaving, Abi is entering and gives him a long look. She comes up and Charu asks her to stop right there, tells her she has not been invited inside. Abi asks what Indran was doing there and then goes on to say that she had a long talk with her beloved papa and now she knows everything (paavam paapa, earlier she was naive and ignorant and I am supposed to have felt sorry for her 😡). She talks of how she wanted Charu to accept her but now she has come to tell her that she wants nothing to do with her, as she knows all about her character. In fact, she declares that from now on, Charu is her enemy Number ONE 😡 😡 FREEZE .....

Update for Thursday, May 8, 2008

Opening scene: Replay of yesterday's closing scene where Abi challenges Charu and says that she is going to be the edhiri for Charu and leaves. Charu is left thinking that she wanted to reform Abi (eppidi, try pannaame mudiyuma?), instead, she has come under SKPD's influence and has gone over to his side.

Scene 2; Anita is talking to Satish (?), her brother-in-law, and mentions that Manisha is in Chennai. She tells him about Rocky being sick and being operated upon, and how Manisha has been taking care of him. It looks like he knows all about the Karthik - manisha - Rocky story.

Scene 3: Kandhu and his men at Charu's house, they honk loudly till the gates are opened. Charu's security men tell Kandhu that he cannot see her without an appointment, he must go back, but Kandhu insists on seeing her. Meantime, Charu is watching from upstairs and asks her men to let him in. Now the fun starts. He goes in and greets Charu as periamamungo. She is puzzled, and he explains that in Tamil one says ammini, but in English, one has to say Mam, and since he is used to calling Abi Mam, and she is Abi's mother, he called her Periamamungo. She asks him who he is and what he wants and he explains that he is the financier Ramamurthy and a very good friend of Abi's. Apparently she used to go to him for roshanai (yojanai) and he says he knows that she held her mother in high esteem, and was actually challenging SKPD when she found out that he was plotting to kill Charu, and that was what led to her falling down the stairs. Now how did he know that? Did Sarasu tell him? When he says all this, Charu realizes that her daughter used to actually care about her, and to cover up her feelings, orders Kandhu to leave. Once he has left, Charu is thinking about how there is still some good in Abi.

Scene 4: Abi is seen going to Kanakku's wife's house. She has committed suicide and the police and press are already there. Abi sheds a few tears and spots the corner of a letter sticking out from under the pillow. Just as she tries to take it, AC Shankar comes and gets it. He says that nothing must be removed from the scene (thank God, at least one person knows something about procedures). Everyone asks him to read out the note, he reads it and sees that Indira has said that Jamuna was torturing her frequently by asking her about the gold and other things, and she really had no info, and since J even struck her a couple of times, she felt she could not handle the shame and took poison. She ends by holding J responsible for her death. Shankar is leaving when Abi asks him to read it aloud, and so he relates the contents aloud. A newspaper reporter is taking down all the news.

Scene 5: JC and ACD are discussing how Jamuna has landed herself in trouble - I could have told them this a long time back that she had no idea what she was supposed to do, and shoots her mouth without thinking. Meantime, Abi comes to see them, accompanied by her lawyer, and they demand to know what action is being taken against Jamuna, and have they suspended her. JC gives the usual spiel about the investigation being under progress, and once that is over, they will recommend the appropriate action that will have to be taken. The lawyer gets angry, and ACD reminds him not to lose his temper and raise his voice, instead to be aware that he is in the presence of the police (who have no rules to abide by!). Incidentally, Abi's earrings (the ones at the top) make her ears look pointed like an elf's, the cameraman needs to check his angles 😃 .

Scene 6: Abi is sitting by the pool, reading up on law. SKPD asks her if she is planning to take up law, and she says she is trying to get completely acquainted with the law, so she can help the lawyer in their efforts to get Jamuna arrested. She says that her goal is to get Jamuna in shackles at the court, and SKPD declares that she is truly his daughter. Abi is wearing her usual ruminative expression.... FREEZE

Update for Friday, May 9, 2008

Opening scene: SKPD tells Abi that she is truly his daughter, and with her by his side, he will regain his former stature. Abi has her usual expression. SKPD says that she has to ensure that Jamuna comes to the court, minus her uniform and position, and only then will he be happy, since that will be a fitting punishment to her for having shackled him and taken him to court.

Scene 2: JC is talking with AC Shankar, who wants to be taken off the case. He mentions that Jamuna was in ACD's team, and he and Dorai have already had some ego problems. JC says that this case was in Shankar's jurisdiction, so it will not be right for someone else to conduct an inquiry. Besides, everyone is putting pressure on him to resolve the issue, since Jamuna has threatened Kanakku's wife in the presence of so many people, and he (JC) is being asked daily by his superiors and other officers what is being done. It will not be right for him to show any bias. Even Shankar himself has accused him of being biased in favor of AC Dorai and Jamuna, at which point Shankar makes a feeble attempt to deny it, so it is important that he should conduct the inquiry fairly. He asks Shankar to get specimens of Indira's handwriting for comparison, and to send everything to the handwriting experts. Shankar leaves.

Scene 3: Shankar and two policemen enter Indira's house, which is open as always in TV serials. They obviously don't need to show any warrants, Shankar tells them to search everywhere and they find some notebooks with Indira's writing in them. As they are leaving, two women come there and ask them what has been done about Jamuna. He says that an investigation is under way, and they say that if anybody else had been named by the dead person, they would have taken that person to the police station directly for questioning. Why is another rule being applied for Jamuna? Shankar asks them what happened on the day Jamuna tortured (actually the expression is "gave torture" - is this something that is physically handed over? I cannot understand this expression 😕 ), and he asks a policeman to take notes of what the women tell him. They agree to give evidence in the police station as well as in the court, when needed.

Scene 4: Jamuna is being warned by JC and she tries to justify her actions, so he asks her to "Shut up" (not professional at all) and tells her that her actions were unwarranted. (Of course, the same thing happens at police stations, out of sight of the public eye, but that is something we are not talking about here.) He says that because of her actions, a life has been lost, and can she bring that life back?

Scene 5: Kandhu is entering SKPD's house, he is stopped by the men in black, who ask him who he is, and he is amazed that they would even stop him. He wants to know if they are new there (you see, he is so well known, almost as much as Rajnikanth, how can they be so stupid as not to know this?) and they say No, and then he says that he is there because Abirami had called him over. They let him enter, and he goes inside, Abi comes down with her usual konal smirk, asks him what he wants, he gives his spiel about being out of town to attend to some matters (huh, you think I am going to tell you that I was behind bars?). He then says that he is so happy that she is with her daddy, and talks about his visit to Periyamamungo's house. She is confused, so he explains that Periyamamungo is Charulatha, at which point she orders him out. He tries to explain, but she is firm, so he has to leave, polambifying that he didn't know about the troubles between mom and daughter, and look what has happened to him. I guess he was trying to point out to Abi that with Mother's Day approaching, she should buy her amma some flowers 😃 😃

Scene 6: AC Shankar in JC's office, he hands over the notebooks, AC compares the two writings, goes through the expert's opinion ( this may have been a subsequent mini-scene) and says that now they will have to take action against Jamuna. ACS wants to know what action, and JC expostulates, "I will have to place her under suspension".

Scene 7: AC Dorai in his office, someone comes and gives him a file, he reads it, is deeply troubled and asks Jamuna to come to his cabin. Is that the usual term for "office"? Sounds more like a midnight assignment to me. Jamuna goes in and he hands her the report. She is troubled and says that she thought JC's warning would be all, Dorai says that she shouldn't have physically slapped Indira, then she says that it was Dorai who told her to be strict with Indira, and she was only following his orders. It is now ACD's turn to have a troubled look on his face - naan eppoda ivale adikka sonnen? FREEZE...

I forgot, there was one more scene in which Manisha and Anita are talking with the doctor, and he tells them that they need not come to the hospital daily any more, he has made arrangements for the hospital to adopt Rocky, and there will be two nurses with him day and night, and all this will be free of cost, including his medications. They are very appreciative of him, and he says that not all doctors are money grabbing leeches (can you please send me his name and address? I need to have such people's names). On their way out, Manisha thanks Anita for all her help, and says that she will try to get a posting to Chennai itself, or else look for a new job and until then, can Anita continue to look after Rocky? Anita assures her of her full support.

Jammu and ACD in conversation - Jammu goes on lamenting - " I wanted to find out the truth and thats why I went and spoke to Mrs.Kanakku. That too, only after your consent!!! I acted as SKPD's daughter when no one else was ready to do it!!! I risked my life and arrested him!!! I lost my would be also in that process!!! They could have just transferred me??!!! My dad will be unhappy and my service records will carry this black mark!!" ACD talks about " crown of flowers becoming crown of thorns"(uh huh) - "take this as a holiday, relax. You will be called back soon." Jammu salutes, signs the suspension order and removes her cap. She looks really lost. SKPD gets a call from the control room police chap informing the suspension of Jammu. SKPD is overjoyed and shares his elation with darling daughter ( incidentally daughter has a similar car like daddy and is being driven around!!) -" come home soon amma, let us celebrate and we need to plan to divest ACD of his uniform." But daughter wants to meet Jammu first -"nakkai pidingakkara mathiri naalu vaarthai kettutu varen pa." SKPD is sated to know that he did sire a true heir - " athu!!! awww, my darling baby"

Jammu is all sad - clad in an yellow sari, all pensive. Bingo, Abi comes and walks in straight ( she enters any house that is open!!! veedu veedaa enter panrathile no qualms!!!) Tells Jammu that she and her dad are capable of toppling any kingdom - " u recovered the gold. You should have been honored and given a share of the loot but your dept. sent u out!!! And to get this done, I wrote so many petitions in different names to so many people!!! None of your police force can do any thing. Me and my dad will see to dethrone ACD as well. We have a vacancy for a security guard in our area, why don't u try for it??" Jammu keeps quiet (fortunately!! otherwise, empty challenges would have flown from either side and made us die in disgust!!!) Abi leaves.

Abi and Charu are in their respective cars - cars are moving. Abi sees that Charu is also on the roads and plans for a nadu theru conference ,
asks her driver to drive faster and block Charu's car - gets out of the car and faces Charu -" enna?? Jammu vai vaichu, u wanted to nail my dad??!! But, me and my dad uprooted all your plans!! Now you are teaming up with that old cop Indran??? Indran enna antha ACD kooda can not touch my father!!!" wait and see" Charu smiles first and says that Abi's age makes her to throw empty challenges but Charu's age
believes in action -"senju kattern" - leaves and Abi deems it fit to smile - (nadu theru le ninnu ipdi smile pannina....... Gunaseelam, Kutraalam lam getting closer!!!😳)

Manisha - Anitha - Manisha recites a vote of thanks to Anitha for taking care of her son. She is leaving ( at last she realizes that she needs to earn for her living!!) Anitha's MIL doles out some unsolicited advice - " Anitha mathiri social work athu ithu nnu alaiyame, get back to your husband soon, ok?" Anitha goes to see Manisha off.
