I must add, there is no denying that KKHH is entrenched in culture and memories. Two decades later it remains relevant for discussion because people do watch it over and over again.

I was thinking of this video and how so many people recognize these references.

I also remember seeing plenty of HW Movies at the time where kids bring divorced parents together or any other gf. (I remember one with Olsen twins and one with Lindsay Lohan)

2001 Bollywood there was a movie called Rahul..

If you remember Son Pari - it again had a similar theme. Frooti didn’t like her father’s gf who was a gold digger. Son pari was like a mother to her.. and when she retains a human form she is paired with her father.

Its definitely not a whole new concept. The only new thing Kjo really brought was Tina leaving letters.

Bringing parents together is different since you know their relationship. Here she's asked to find a strange woman (without any internet or social media), and pair her with her father.

She's expected to understand the feeling and pain of love. How would she understand any of those emotions? Also, it would still have made sense if she was at least 15-16 years old. But she was 8. 8!!

Also, I didn't watch Sonpari. Did Frooty actively try to pair her up with her father? And even if she did, she must be trying to find a mother and not trying to find her father a girlfriend.

In the movie, Anjali is expected to understand love, attraction, pain, loss etc. from a letter. How is it possible?

I'd never seen this video before .... it's amazing just how iconic his movies and characters have been and continue to remain. I recognized most of them in the beginning but missed the ones towards the end.😆

Not necessarily parents.

How does it make a difference if frooti is getting herself a mother figure or a spouse for her parents? It’s still the same thing. Anjali is also getting a mother figure, not only that she is named after the same woman. Anjali is not just any strange woman in that sense.

Even animals understand love, wo why can’t a young child understand it? Especially when she is encouraged by her grandparents?

Love is such an emotion that kids with their simplicity and honestly understand better most of the times. It’s adults who complicate things.

These types of "woke" people are influenced by western feminists who lately call everything sexism. Complaining about harmless things like this undermines the real problems women face in India and worldwide if you ask me.

Yes, we should all merely expect not to be raped or burned for dowry. Actually assuming we will be treated as human and not have bras shoved in our faces is way too much! We should, in addition, show the decency to fall in love with sexual harassers. Wear Western clothing and expect to be taken seriously at work and in love life? Oh, no. Too woke.

Western feminism goes overboard. Indian women should not expect to be treated as equals. Just expect not to get raped, hit, or killed. Good enough.

And who are you to decide which movie was amazing and which one was bad? Many so-called 'great' movies are garbage. 3 Idiots was dumb AF and had a very problematic rape joke. Also, many older movies had regressive themes.

What's the problem in calling them out?????

Its all subjective, I'm not forcing my opinion on others here. People like that dude or you can bash those older movies but I can also complain about his videos and silly criticism. This is after all a discussion forum.

Also 3 Idiots was awesome and its interesting how sensitive you are being now when its about some sexist jokes (compared to our discussion regarding Muslim representation).

You act like Anjali or Tina were treated badly in this movie..also you act like there is either rape, being killed etc. or a dude looking at a girls boobs when she is a bit exposed (hell he even looked away quickly).

What about equal pay, women being harassed openly in their jobs, on the streets, abusive husbands/boyfriends etc. ? Feel like the latter scene is upsetting you a bit much.

Because love is very complicated. Love between lovers is different from love between parent-child. Romantic love has feelings and nuances that a child cannot understand.

I don’t agree with this.
