The topic has thrown up lots of information. In India the competition is very tough 10 seats 100 applications. The entrance exams to the IIT's, IIMS and then the IAS is of very high standard.
What I have noticed is my cousins studying abroad are poor in maths, they rely on calculators so much.In the UK there is a debate going on that too few children opt for sciences as most prefer easier subjects, it is because of too many choices. I can study GEography and SCience together but not take up mathematics, this is detrimental in the learning of sciences afterall without Mathematics Physics can never be easy. This essentially it the problem then Indian children due to lack of Amreican style education are good at improvisation, they are good at making the best of less resources. I see that my cousins here studying in the 10 th standard have knowledge of the hardware they go ahead and repair their computers whereas this is not the case with my cousins studying abroad.

well, as far as i know, there are different kinds
of academic people here in the US.

-People who need a little help
-Typical for their age
-Advanced for their age

So it really depends in this topic about what you are talking about. Higher level people are in different classes than typical and people who need help. the advaced students get harder work.

Typical students are in seperate classes and recieve typical work and work at a normal pace.

People who need support get less harder homework and work at a slower pace in a different class.
