Ok doormat wali chalti hai because of regressive mindset of some people I get it. Many people still think that it is the girls' duty to sacrifice or forgive.

But I don't get one thing, in a country like India where extra marital affairs are looked down upon even much more than most other countries of the world, why does it even sell?

And yes doormats do exists, extra marital affairs take place, many other things do take place in real like. Ok dikhao serials mai but the treatment and execution should be correct naa. It should not be glorified, it should be shown that it is wrong.

Because in a country like India where a lot of families are still traditional, girls are conditioned to believe that their father, brother, husband, son is their support system. We believe in adjusting, preserving relationships and giving second chances even if the other side may not deserve it. Honor killings also have a high rate. EMA is not legally a crime and respect of the household is more important than respect of an individual. Divorce is a tabboo, especially when it concerns a wife who may be financially, emotionally and physically dependant on her partner and even more when it involves children because the concept of mutual parenting is frowned upon. Sometimes works for the best, sometimes ruins lives.

Anupamaa did a good job with it. Her younger son and other members actually made her realise how sacrificing more than required and becoming nothing more than a furniture in the Shah house is not the right thing to do + V has been seen with a tirchi nazar only.

UD and other recent 'youth' cast shows have been less friendly with the concept of showing grey and iss chakkar mein heroine ki band bajaa di hai.

May be my way of asking question was not upto the mark compared to what I wanted to know . I understand the points you are saying, I understand the things that are accepted due to patriarchy and isliye chalte hai. I am asking only about EMA part.

But EMA is very badly frowned na toh why this thing is liked so much is what I couldn't get. Since some people believe that girls should adjust they like seeing that in TV too. But the same people hate EMA also na, then why do they not hate seeing that on the TV?
