I think Aditi is at fault here. She should have informed Deepika before talking to the patient. Whatever may be their personal relationship professionally both are experienced doctors and should respect the protocol as Deepika said.

Though I think Deepika should not have said the she was doing this for the benefit of her research only and does not care about the patient

Just realised one thing after re watching a few old episodes Deepika didn't keep pinning for Vikrant after their breakup. She still had feelings for him and also missed her family very much but didn't drown in self pity and misery. She kept working towards her dream, tried to move on and in the process grew to be a confident and admirable woman. She is not perfect but she tries to do her best and I really admire that. Also seeing the flashbacks I really liked her evolution of style and talking.
