After Dilwale he actually wanted to make critically acclaimed movies too, not just big hits. Most of the directors he worked with weren't exactly blockbuster material. Imtiaz Ali's record hasn't had a clean hit since the first Love Aaj Kal movie, Rahul Dholakia also makes more niche movies etc.. Also something like Fan didn't have much mass appeal.

It didn't really pay off for him since the directors were overwhelmed and screwed up although I liked Raees and Fan overall they didn't connect with the audience

Whatever it is… I hope it works out for him… one thing I’ve noticed is that when someone aims for a movie to be hit, wanting to follow a safe formula.. it doesn’t really work :/

I hope I’m proved wrong… he’s already suffered a lot even in personal life… I really hope he gets two super hit movies … honestly he just deserves this after the horrible past few months…

Looking at Imtiaz Ali's track record I disagree, his last clean hit was the first Love Aaj Kal 12+ years ago so SRK definitely wasn't working with him to deliver some superhit/blockbuster type of movie. But he definitely didn't expect it to be a huge flop and be trashed by every critic either

Raees in terms of overall story was definitely safe but the main premise already makes it less appealing, a movie focused on a muslim gangster and doesn't portray him as a cartoon villian is definitely not safe now in the current political climate.

Anyway I agree and really hope "Pathan" works out for him and Sid doesn't go stupid like Aanand Rai did. Delivering an enjoyable action movie shouldn't be hard but SRK's track record with directors since Dilwale has been terrible (like Rohit Shetty is definitely a very safe director and yet Dilwale didn't do well and was a mess)

The haters are a 100 times more desperate.....for them SRK has done only 2 good movies in his whole career...CDI and Swades....all the rest of the movies are hit because he spread his arms...he has a PR...he had Yash Chopra.....arre Bhai Yash Chopra bana paaye apne bete to superstar...try toh ussne bhi bahut kiya....star bhi nahi bana.....if people can survive 30 years with PR, and PHs...toh all these star kids and ameer baap ki aulaad should have been superstars ....not someone like SRK.......

bade aaye fans ko gaaliyan dene wale...fans retaliate because the haters are so desperate to pull SRK down....

Taste of audience...my foot...the audience that makes movies like Simba and Sooryavanshi a hit has indeed a great taste....🤣

Well said some fans also should stop obsessing over Swades and CDI tbh. They are no doubt great movies but don't really represent SRK's filmography. The way fans constantly talk about them is like they are trying to appease the haters by saying that SRK has some "intellectual" movies as well, as if they are ashamed of his other popular movies. Just weird in my opinion. SRK made patriotic movies before it was trendy, he could have easily jumped on the bandwagon again but didn't do it because he likes to do his own stuff.

Taste of audience is definitely not better now considering shit like Simmba and Sooryavanshi are very successful and other "amazing" popular movies from the past few years include War, Kabir Singh etc. I even enjoyed some of them but I don't like people acting snobby about how the audience is suddenly smart now but were dumb in the 90s. Kabir Singh is more regressive than KKHH but again people often say how the latter has aged badly while they go and watch the former lol.

I'll disagree on one part though, I thought SRK was great in Devdas. One of my favourite SRK movies. In terms of performance he only disappointed me in HNY and Dilwale, it seemed like he was sleepwalking through the movies even though usually he is invested in his masala movies too (see OSO, MHN, even CE etc.). But there it seemed like he didn't really care. I hope Pathan is not like that

Where, how are you seeing that title. The title of the video is the title of this thread. And I do not think he is referring to people who did not see the video as desperate. I think he is referring to the video and those seeing it, who hope for SRK to come back to be desperate.

Unfortunately, the pic of the video has written "is he over?" in biiiig letters...so, my reaction was similar to Blue Ice's one: I had no interest in watching/hearing/reading something that has this clickbait.

Meanwhile, I came across of other reviews done by this Aamir guy and I liked the way he explains his views. For just getting to know his opinion, it is worth a watch/hearing and it would be a good contribution for in-depths discussion (although there is a lot I myself disagree with). In each of the discussed movies I found a lot of things to enjoy - for me they even are worth to be rewatched to discover more things to enjoy.

In my defense, it's on the thumbnail, not the title. I kept reading the title (top left) over and over. The thumbnail also has a blue theme - so it's not as prominent to me. I also believe I am a positive person so my brain is naturally oblivious to negatives.

Wow, looks like I hit a nerve 😆... I'm constantly trying to make? mate, I made one post lol, relax, don't get so wound up. I get it, if I was a fan, I'd be frustrated too with his lack of success in recent years, but that's not my problem. It doesn't matter how much "praise" he received for his performances, it didn't translate at the box office. Where were his fans? either his fans are rejecting his movies, or his fans are dwindling 😆 Either way, he's a shadow of his former self, that's not "hate", it's just life, what goes up must come down.

Maybe VFX was the problem 😆
