True there have been many stories portraying deep and eternal kind of love between leads but anuj stands out because of his unique character which has been so beautifully and completely described by the writer of the article.

Just as a point of interest, what if anuj had entered into anupama's life as some new person, without any past between them..jo waise bhi anu has no recollection of...but becoming impressed by anu, seeing her trying to fly out and so helping her in her career and being a friend and all that, and in the process falling in love with her...basically everything as it is, anuj respecting her boundaries at the same time understanding her inhibitions and gently gently prying her loose from them.. All this as it is but without the 26 years of unrequited love, just some man who hadn't settled down with anyone before because no one had pulled at his heart strings. And now with anupama he finds everything he wants. Would anuj then be as popular as he is now? Or is the 26 years of love the magical ingredient?

I feel the 26 years was added to have initial excitement for new character..but obviously audience has fell in love with this because of all the traits and not just 26 years..

Also, without any connection Anu stepping out to even present her idea might not have ever happened..

And the added kaand..the problems shah create because they knew she was his college crush. Yaar itna saara kaand ka barud kaha se aata..

Haan toh kaand ke mavaad ke liye the 26 years was brought in.. Otherwise, for me, without that it would be even more fascinating.

It would have been interesting too if it goes that way too. But maybe Anuj was introduced as a person who loved Anu from long back because he was mentioned long way back in the series and it does make more exciting because its his one sided love for her.

I think Anuj would have become popular if it is based on your concept but the love of 26 years was actually magical because of the rarity of this type of love being shown on screen. Like the way Vanraj said that this type of love is only heard of and never seen but even though its a fictional chara we can actually see a person living it and it makes us believe that these people do exist somewhere in reality too.

That's a very interesting question! If you'd ask me I'd say we as an audience were first made aware of the "26 year love" angle and fell in love just with the thought of someone being in love and being loyal for that long. Over time, his actions, his mannerisms, his thoughts, his thoughtfulness, his caring approach, his humanity, his love, his dil chidakne wala har andaz only supported the previous instinctive theory❤️

This is one of the best write ✍️ ups of a character who just walks into the screen one moment and you have fallen hood line and sinker and improves every passing day, how could you not fall in love with this guy and wished that someone was there for you just the way he is for Anupama.

Every female wish to take him home but you forget that the person only exists in the show, if only☺️

The gentleman that plays the character is just absolutely adorable and spoken for so keep dreaming 😴
