Even though I have been listening to OP Nayyar songs they've always been the famous ones. I haven't really done a detailed perusal of his works yet but this post made me remember that I have to and I am glad it it.

OP Nayyar's name always brings one movie to my mind instantly and that's CID.

Along with that a name that comes in my head is that of 'Shamshad Begum'. A lesser known voice to today's generation in comparison to Lata Ji or Asha Ji but the voice, Oh THE VOICE. No one has been repeated with the same signature style in bollywood. Not once, her voice was different, so different and I wish bollywood had used her more because I don't think they did enough.

I know I've been MIA but last couple days have been busy.

Kaifi Azmi is a name without which Indian Music industry cannot be completed. He has given a lot of brilliant lyrics throughout his work years. From penning all the dialogues of Heer Ranjha to beauties like Chalte Chalte he has been successful in etching his name in all our hearts.

However one such song that I will always go back to is this beauty below. The lyrics profess longing and pain in its own way and is a masterpiece, even though other tracks of the movie like 'Tum jo mil gaye ho' is remembered more, for me Hanste Zakhm will always be in my mind for 'Aaj Socha tho aansoon Bhar Aye' and 'Betaab Dil Ki Tammanna'. Always and forever.

I've been listening to O.P since morning and I'm blown away by the impeccable soundtracks he's produced. Usually I find at least 1 song I don't like as much as others in most soundtracks but I find in O.Ps case, I really have to dig deep to find that one song in his albums!

That really speaks of the prowess of the man!

Even though, Lata Mangeshkar was a top playback singer for many decades, Nayyar never used her services and opted for her sister Asha Bhosle, who sang some of her most famous songs for him.

Vani, his daughter stated she recorded 3 songs for her father. O.P.Nayyar was happy and complimented her. Word got back to Asha Bhonsle. She was angry. She arrived at the recording studio and asked which musicians provided music to the song. Asha then got the 4 musicians removed from work.

I read this too in the IMDb O.P trivia page, but as far as I remember O.P did not have a daughter named Vani.

It's sad about his family though. He abandoned them to hook up with Asha and one of his daughters was apparently left homeless 😒 (again if the IMDb page is to be believed)
