Your thoughts on 500 days of Summer?

The narrator warns the viewers at the beginning of the movie that it isn't a love story.

Summer and Tom work at the same place, are attracted to each other and start dating. Summer makes it clear at the beginning she doesn't want a serious relationship. Tom accepts it although it seems he wasn't honest with himself when he said he was fine with it. He clearly wasn't and ends up getting hurt more when they break up. Was there a lack of communication? Summer being selfish? Tom not accepting the reality of their toxic relationship?

He realises that the fairly tale romances we are made to believe since the childhood are all a farce. It's all an illusion. Love doesn't exist.

Summer goes the opposite way and starts believing in love and romance when she eventually met 'the right person' and got married to him.

In the end, life goes on. Everyone makes mistakes, I guess.

Failed relationships can teach you a lot about life as well.

What is your take?

Not Bollywood. Hollywood.

Oh Sorry. By mistake, I opened the wrong window. I think I am in the wrong place. I thought this was Bollywood forum.

I like the fact that they showed that people can find new relationships

However, when I was watching this years ago I thought they would end up together

As a viewer, you want them to end up together.

Despite there being a clear warning that it's not a love story.

People have been fed with way too many love stories and romances be it through movies, songs, or any form of entertainment. This leads to increased expectations and when they are not met in real life it causes pain and disappointment.

But the idea of fluffy romances is so attractive, it is what sells.

It's been sometime since I saw this. Initially you do want them to end up together but when you view the movie again it's very clear that the girl( Summer?) never wanted a serious relationship and she had made it clear too in the very beginning. Nice watch.
