**This is just my opinion.**

Firstly, Aryan wasn't jealous, he was irritated with Imlie always getting carried away in her emotions. Emotions hone ka matlab ye nahi that you just flow away with the tide, emotions make you human and feel. But Imlie is emotional to a fault. Giving away your emotions and feelings to a person who doesn't care for it is unhealthy and draining on the person who gives it away. Aryan had asked her to feel everything and not be stoic like him, but usko bhi niyantran aur santulan me rakhna padta hai. Infact, what Aryan said is what we all have been saying for ages. Imlie's "feelings" and "words" have no integrity. She retracts from it the very next episode. So, either don't give such heavy-duty dialogues to a child-woman or don't make her flip so often.

Second, Aryan wasn't possessive either. He isn't in that territory. Of course, he feels for her which overlaps with his mentorship, but he doesn't have that ownership over Imlie just yet. I am not saying it won't happen, but I am also saying that he isn't totally there yet.

Imlie and Aryan are in a zone, where there is an unspoken, unnamed bond between them which they don't want to justify or name. They get each other and they don't really shy away from being honest with each other. But there is a lot more untapped with this pair. Their sheer clarity and transparency in the communication make the intimacy game so strong, it just makes you feel you are interfering something rather private. It is subtle and slow but works for me. And whenever they do fall in love, it will be very intense, because its just simmering under that skin, with Imlie slowly beginning to acknowledge that Aryan's PoV matters, and Aryan acknowledging how much emotion and dedication this girl holds in her heart.

I see what you are saying and most of the viewers seem to hold your view point. So I most likely am wrong. But when I see his characterization - astute, detail oriented, alert to everything regarding Imlie, uncommunicative and non demonstrative of his emotions, intense, self aware...all this leads me to think he is very aware - and intentionally quiet.

I know he never has said anything to indicate this...just going by his emoting and some scenes like the coin in fist, anklet, the whole shiddhat song...he seems to self aware and introspective not to realize this esp when he seems to understand being affected many times by her - heartbeat, cute, the car door scene, etc.

Overall I agree with you in that - if you look at the fact that he never acknowledges even in his mind voice - that he likes her and always associates his motivation for revenge to be just his jija..then I am likely extrapolating his awareness based on his emoting and the added influence of the director.

Playing male voice shiddat with Aryan's contemplative stance seemed too suggestive of his awareness.

Also I wanted to add - one of 2 things must be true.

He is using Imlie for revenge on Adi

or

He likes her so he is doing these things.

Because otherwise why is he hiding Malini's visit from Imlie? Just to protect Imlie? When Malini asks him his motivation - he should have thought about it even if he did not answer her...is it revenge from Adi or some liking for Imlie that has not translated to love yet?

He has been asked this question by Anu too - personal or professional his interest in Imlie - so if he has not yet answered that question for himself, then he probably is not as self aware as his characterization makes him out to be

Okay, so the direction Aryan takes when it comes to Imlie, is she is another victim of Aditya. And what he is doing is righteous vengeance. But if I answer your 2 things, I will go for the 2nd one.

Minute behavioral nuances can actually decode this. Irrespective of Aditya, Aryan latched on to Imlie. Something drew him to her before being Aditya's wife came into the picture. Cause if I keep everything aside and view only from Aryan's PoV, his eyes have always been on Imlie. I cannot pinpoint any reason in particular, but it was. Maybe, begrudging respect for someone who reached out first to rescue his sister.

When he got to know who she is, he did draw a boundary, but then he again took a u-turn when he found her sleeping in the office, and that triggered his sympathy for her. And then after that day, Aryan's eyes were back on her. Before that, he was a tad bit struggling to toe the line with Imlie, and his mother and Arpita were not helping his case either.

After she began living as his tenant, he was always on the lookout for her. Whenever, someone questions about the presence of a girl in his life, his thoughts drift to Imlie. Then he slowly began to know her sadness, her pain, her history, her love.

Certain explicit moments where again Aryan doesn't toe the line was following her to Tripathi House when Aditya was beaten, then calling out to her to come with him, then taking the divorce papers and handing them over to her to sign. This was him acting out of why the hell do you want to live with this man who has actually pulled you and your character down to the mud.

Then again it became more explicit holding her from falling, joining on the marriage assignment, hovering over her so that she doesn't fall weak. His feelings were displayed more when he saw Imlie as Simran, where it was evident that he was stumped. After that, the chili incident, Mr. India runnerup incident was his subtle ways of pulling her out of misery. Then again today, viewing her through his cabin when she is contemplating over the PD assignment, closely observing her actions to go to T house, getting irritated with her "feelings" for the mad circus.

If you start analyzing, the guy's feelings are sprinkled all across 52 episodes since his entry. Just they are so restrained that you have to actually rewatch to understand him.

Anu and Malini will never understand Aryan's motivations because they don't understand why a rich guy like him will be so invested in someone like Imlie, who in their view is nothing more than filth. Pure civility and humanity is something that hasn't even touched them. Unlike the Chaturvedis, the Rathores are civil. Those people even treat Sundar as a human, so let it be. And Aryan's revenge is a joke, cause when Aditya Kumar Tripathi is out to ruin himself, what revenge can he take. Aryan has done things that cannot even be perceived as revenge. Aryan's revenge is a lousy plot, which will die a quick death once he just lets go of his pain and guilt.

Spot on analysis. I started watching Imlie recently and went back saw the episodes from Aryans entry and did notice everything you mentioned. It was when he found out that she saved his sister that made him look at her in a different light than a minor annoyance. He took upon himself to mentor her, help her with her troubles. He only involved himself more after he found her sleeping in his office realizing there are more issues in her life than she can handle. You can see the care and it has probably evolved to something more after the Simran episode. Let’s see where the story takes up. I hope the writers don’t mess it up.

yes - this is 100% what I'm saying. He always had a pull that was not explainable given their differences. And maybe a bit of divine interference as well. Remember all their earlier scenes seem to be interlinked to suggest that Aryan was the new disha and raah SM had planned for her. The scene where she enters the hostel and he comes running out of his house is shot by alternating their scenes. Arylie was written in the cards since the day he entered and everyday they have strengthened it.

And he did say explicitly he would not use her directly for revenge. Hence my determination that he knows he likes her and is doing all this for her, either to protect, love, OR for revenge...there is no other apparent motive.

If you watch very closely the episode the day Imlie gets her first id - he actually send the peon out and then seems to open his office window just to watch her get the card. But this is just implied. He sees her go to Adi and retreat. Also he also always wanted to know why Adi was interested in her an intern not realizing she was his wife :)

Another episode, Meethi tells Imlie to hold her dreams tightly in her fist - same day Aryan holds Imlie's coin tightly in his fist and also says the solution for his dard and her pain is the same - is that revenge on Adi or them helping each other overcome their pain...what is the same solution for both? Again cryptic.

These all can't be coincidental. We have been getting full on symbolism with these 2.

Makers have given enough hints both ways tho to keep us guessing. Malini or Anu questioning him - each time if his interest was personal or professional...he should have attempted to answer the question himself. He categorically denies interest in Imlie when he first meets with Malini and then downloads the car reservation app for her. When they speak at jagratha...he has a strange expression when she says - you can't be doing it for imlie. He has not really understood his feelings even after this repeated questioning?? And the anklet scene - he intentionally walks to it picks it up and pockets it - almost indicative of a man who wants something and when he gets it will treasure it and keep it very safe and not let go easily. I actually often wonder if he is manipulating Adi's insecurity regarding him and Imlie - intentionally. He always shows up at the worst possible times for Adilie and sometimes his presence not even justified. (like the T house porch drama)

But in terms of dialog they have been extremely careful not to have Aryan verbalize or accept that he cares or loves or whatever he feels for her. He keeps even his mind voice away from Imlie...sure sign of someone tamping emotions down and not letting himself feel. But again this is just implied.

What is very interesting for me is yesterdays episode. Imlie clearly has told him she will always feel protective towards T parivar, Aparna and Adi's life. Will he be smart and give up his revenge for Imlie and she will in turn help him get over his revenge or is he going to ignore her affection for the T's and have this turn out to be a big blunder for him wrt Imlie that he has to overcome with her or it will bring him down completely in her esteem, depending on how makers want to take this story

To add to my comment chk out episodes 320 and 321 again...you can see Aryan visibly irritated with Adi Imlie's interactions - 1. when he observes her going to Adi with her pass, 2. when Adi steps in to defend her under cover skills and 3. when editor Saab sends them both out to cover the assignment. Before he knows Imlie is Adi's wife - these reactions seem a bit too Imlie focussed.

Also later when she comes back after the superstar interview he is upset she is late and spent the whole day with Adi.

What I enjoy is these are all very subtle nuances that other shows either don't have or cannot do well...in Imlie it is so subtle sometimes most viewers miss it on first watch :)

Still do not like the way Aryan is such an arrogant know-all. He didn't want Imlie to go with Adi to PD, but he has absolutely no idea about their important interactions there - Imlie is well-versed in dealing with terrorists and goons, Adi and Imlie have saved each other innumerable times, especially in PD, Aryan cannot know that and he should at least be aware of the great depth of feeling and shared experiences the Adilie pati/patni team are likely to have had. He seems to be of the opinion that the whole year's relationship was shallow and he is so wrong!

So he should butt out and leave Imlie to do her own thing, not be the overbearing bully he is at present. If Imlie wants to give Adi her SM little murti, then why shouldn't she, and who is he to check that it has gone anyway?

I wish she could leave their house and get her own flat somewhere away from all controlling men.

She can't afford it and it's probably not safe for teenager alone either. Aryan doesn't have context and he's doing what he thinks keeps her safe because she has a propensity for attracting trouble. But overbearing men seems to be a running theme in ITV. Adi is like that too. He wants to dictate the lives of two women not one. Aryan by comparison lets Imlie take the lead as she learns.

He doesn't have a place in her life so he's hanging on the edge on feeling something but also not being able to do anything about it. He did play a little role in the separation by taking about the divorce papers, now he's staking claim a little at a time as Imlie allows. They will show him getting jealous more and more as things go on towards making Arylie a thing. Imlie will show weakness toward that family that treated her like naukrani and threw water on her and Aryan will start to show real irritation.

Aryan's character definition by makers was obsessive lover...he likes her a lot but was hiding it..he is showing that slowly...and will look for more control over Imlie as time goes by.
