Holy shit the budget was way too high for a movie like this..what were they thinking.

This seems like a bigger disaster than even Zero which is a shame because this movie is really good

I still don't get it.....why was there such a high budget??

If these cricketers charged so much money for a movie that was based on a glorious event that made every Indian proud....then shame on them...😡 ...It was not a biopic ...it was a real event....WTF about everyone charging so much?? Of course the actors and the staff working for the movie will charge for putting in hard work and effort....but why these cricketers were given so much money?? If nothing else...they were going to be popular again and would have relived that glorious day...

Note: All cricket lovers...if you are planning to jump on me...then don't ...I am asking a very logical question...

That glorious event was possible because of those cricketers.

The producers didn't release the movie for free. Their intention was to make money and were going to get much bigger profit.

And the cricketers didn't really charge much. It's 3 to 5 Crores for each. That's fair deal.

There was also Zero (2018) but that film covered the costs but obviously a value has to be given for the remenuration of Shahrukh Khan and at that time the digital rights were fair value for a star price for a big budget film. So it worked out at a 70 crore value meaning similar loss to Bombay Velvet though on paper only as the star is the producer so there is no loss though if someone else produced the film then the loss would be there.

Statements like this is why I roll my eyes at BOI when it starts throwing around budget numbers. If SRK as a producer was only taking remuneration on the back end then

1) that's not part of the budget

2) if it's a money loser then there's no % profit to take on the back end so it's not a cost either. It's only a loss to SRK, not the film.

If an actor doesn't take money up front it doesn't matter if they produced the film or not. Another producer might not have produced the film if an actors up front costs were too much because that becomes part of the budget.

The budget of the film was 240 crore plus 20 crore for P&A taking it to 260 crore. There were interest costs on this budget due to the delayed release due to the pandemic but to counteract there will be around 25-30 crore coming from UK rebate which will take care of most of the interest costs. So its a 260 crore cost and recovery will be around 180 crore from all revenue sources giving it an 80 crore loss.

The budget being 260cr total was only stated in one off the record article and in that article it stated the budget was 210cr (no indication if that included P&A) and the interest payments were another 50cr (and outrageous number). Other than the big 260cr number none of the other numbers underneath it line up.

Why isn't he adding Ranveers would be back end % as part of the loss when he used that calculation in the same article for another loss leader.

He didn't use that for Akshay's recent films in calculation either. Akshay who supposedly according to his own publicity gets 135cr in total when his films hit a certain marker. If the films didn't hit that marker isn't that a loss to Akshay and hence the film according to BOI? 😆

BOI is a mess.

Agreed. Producers only paid those fees because they thought the film was going to be a huge moneymaker and make them far more profit than those fees. If they had doubts about profitability or it was smaller budgeted film then they probably would have offered a backend % deal where they all shared in the risk and success.. Upfront payment wasn't done for charitable purposes.

When even a minor twitter trade celeb handle wants to distance itself from this narrative..BOI should know know that they should have known better and stopped with the essays.

It must be so frustrating to see that no one is supporting their narrative since the last few days. They are only making it worse for themselves.

Whichever flop film came before this-it never got this kind of mindless ,unhinged ramblings.

It is not paid. They are just frustrated that they are not being heard.

A harmless film, made on a national event of importance..only film facing the covid onslaught(Pushpa released a week before)..made around 60 crs in Hindi and doing business less affected by lockdown. So?

Pushpa made 32 crores worldwide in week 2.Distributors in the south are being reimbursed for their losses. In Hindi,it has found great acceptance among small town audience .Good for the film.

Covid is a reality that most actors and producers realised in 2020 itself. What they unwilling to do adapt to it.

Down south Surya adapted. Put his mega theatrical release on hold and used that money crew actors etc to produce small budget 8 movies sold them all to OTT with cost ± plus small profit and contingency payment plan if it worked well.

2 of those movies made a lot of money for all involved one being Jai Bhim. Others ensure everyone had a decent profit.

Work didn't stop. So even technical crew and studio kept making money.

And when everything is over he will come back with his mega theatrical release.....

Producing a completing a movie and then holding it for release would increase the interest cost dramatically.

And theaters were not going to give any great business

Sooryavansi made a decent profit but it is nothing compared to what if could have made during normal times. It had Ajay Devgan Akshay Rohit Shetty and patriotism in masala format.

It could have been a BB. But had to settle for HGOTY because there is nothing else.

RRR may scrape thru but radhey Shyam will cause losses all unnecessary
