Pushpa crashed more than 85 % in its 2nd week worldwide and telugu. From 166 crs to 32 crores( covid?)
BW trade, greedy for telugu followers were hyping the film to reach some 60+ crs. Small town India wanted to see a rural character as hero and they got it.
But the way BW trade was sucking up..when in their own language, distributors were getting their money back for losses .. is surreal.
South movies are mostly very front loaded. Nothing new. 60+cr in the Hindi belt is a big thing for a South movie as it would be if a Hindi movie did that much in the South. It's newsworthy and yes it speaks to a current void in the Bollywood marketplace.
AP instituted a ticket price market cap (I think 100R) which made it impossible for distributors to make money without producers re doing distribution deals - hence giving them back money for their losses since they made a lot of money elsewhere.
