In this day and age I'm surprised Anuj would say he couldn't tell Anu a secret re mental.health. That would go against all the messages society is sending to normalize mental.health.

The way she goes around hugging Van, relatively a stranger, I don't think she was abused physically or sexually. Her ease & comfort around men doesn't seem to suggest it but then again ppl express their trauma in various ways

I think it's some kind of criminal activity Mal was involved in that hurt Akshay/killed someone. She wasnt sentenced as I think she got off due to mental health issues/not being in her state of mind. She seems to exhibit PTSD, bipolar traits due to her mood swings and even she alluded to being indecisive

Anuj keeps saying she left him for 10 yrs and has alluded to not knowing where she was (still find that strange as she was his responsibility after her biological parents death). So,if she was in jail or forced into a hospital for treatment he would know.

From promo it is clear that she was victim of some form of physical abuse . I think the story is that she went to New Years Party with Akshay or maybe spent it alone with him , and he abused her physically. Probably Anuj came and rescued her and took her back . Later , she discovers she is pregnant and goes to Akshay but he has already accepted Anuj’s money and refuses to continue or take any responsibility for the relationship and dissapears . Malvika has to terminate the pregnancy alone ( not sure if even Anuj is aware of it ) and heartbroken she breaks ties with Anuj for some years and leaves .

It doesn’t seem likely she knows the Shahs or Vanraajs past or seems to be keeping tab on them , she did look pretty surprised at the party when she met them with Anuj and also Anupama . Vanraaj will somehow get to know her past and will exploit the secret - maybe bring back Akshay ....
