Bleh. There are PLENTY of films which have shown dangerous godmen and rioters of other religions in Bollywood. Why single out only Sooryavanshi?

Filmmakers are not obligated to promote specific type of subjects only.

I remember Bollywood has made films like Shootout at Wadala in which they glorified Operation Bluestar and somehow brought 'Sikh militants', but easily kept quiet on 1984 pogrom.

Kangana will also probably show the army op in her next Indira film but easily skip the anti Sikh pogrom.

So?

Is it new? Are 1993 blasts or 26/11 attack not real?

Films are not meant to show all sides. They focus on specific subject.

And please there is no dearth of India bashing films showing Hindus as villains in Pakistan. Many Pakistani dramas also show Hindus and Sikhs as villains or fools or cheats.

Why WaPo singles out only India?

There are many films like Singham 2, PK, OMG which showed godmen of mostly Hindu background as villains. Ajay's Haqeeqat in 90s also has a Hindu godman as villain. Nobody bothered about that.

Films have all sorts of villains depending on subjects they take up. No big deal. Writer is just salty why Akki is close to BJP and his film is a hit.

It's not WaPo, it's the troll Ayub. Though yes, WaPo, BBC have this whole anti-India thing going on since forever. They get some kick out of defaming India, but don't have the balls to call out China on Uighurs or Pakistan on Hindu genocides. Nothing new.

This Ayub pretends to be liberal, but is actually a closeted bigot who low-key played down the Taliban acquisition of Afghanistan. She's the Muslim version of IT Cell trolls on Twitter. She called even the Family Man 2 Islamophobic for showing Muslim terrorists (when the main focus wasn't on them).

I am FED UP of selective targeting of films and questioning narratives.

I do not find Haider anti India for eg and I see there are human rights violations by some rogues misusing their power. Same way I never found Gadar or Hey Ram problematic at all. I mean violence, abduction and rapes in partition are a reality. Why the F can we not show any side of the story?

I hated hullaboo around Padmavat too. I mean why expect us to show invaders in a 'nice way'?

These bloody WaPo, BBC, NYT, TIME have NO issues when films show other communities as rioters, villains, rapists. All hell breaks loose when villain is from a specific community. They were silent when baptised Sikhs were shown as gang rapists in Pataal Lok and no one cried demonisation of minority community then. Hindu godmen being rapists, villains, rioters in Aashram, OMG, Singham 2, Jaadugar, Haqeeqat, Ram Teri Ganga Maili is okay, but Bollywood has agenda against only one community? 😀

These people see no issue showing a Sikh and Hindu men as abductor, rapist and lusty in Pakistani serials based on Partition. Of course we gotta love Dastaan, right?

Make one film from other perspective and all hell breaks loose. Is the WaPo writer seriously telling us there have never been any terrorists from any community?

I can easily empathise with victims of Gujarat pogrom while acknowledging terorrism in 1993 and 26/11 blasts. I do not have to choose or do whataboutery just as I can easily empathise with 1984 victims but also understand militancy.

Anyway these editorials are useless. I see conspiracy theories around all films nowadays ever since online portals, social media came up. These columns only promote the film further. Never harmed them. 🤣

Filmmaking is free for all. If anyone has issues then make your own films and show anyone as hero or villain. Nobody cares.

Karan Johar is NOT obligated to produce only MNIK type films. He can invest his money on whatever project he chooses to.

No one from any country, ideology or community can dictate what kind of films shall be made.

I think WaPo would be happy if a saffron robed monk was shown as terrorist. Huma starrer Leila looks like a classic to them. But only one community can never be shown as criminal or even a wife battering husband, because apparently they have never had any criminal or spouse abusers at all?

Rana actually seems obsessed with religion. Even SRK had laughed off her article trying to link his choice of scripts like Raees, as part of some 'Muslim assertion'.

I have noticed she drags religion everywhere despite pretending to be secular and of late she has nothing solid to write so she rants on movies. WaPo has really brought down its standards if they publish editorials on movies now.

I do not think even stars like being dragged into religious debates much. I laugh when I see Akki bashed by all sorts of IT cells from all parties. He is bashed for Atrangi Re and now for Sooryavanshi also. 🤣

Arre ek baar batado whether he is Hindu nationalist agenda promoter or was he promoting love jihad? 🤣

Waise he was accused of promoting conversions through Mission Mangal because Vidya's character says her son wants to be a Muslim like AR Rahman one day. 🤣

Yeh Akshay kahi ka nahi raha. He gets bashed with whatever film he does all because jobless columnists and trolls have nothing else to do except smell agenda in films.

I already said this multiple times that Rana is a zealot. She is automatically seen by many as secular since she's anti-Modi. But she is a very, very thinly veiled bigot. And of late, she doesn't even try to pretend otherwise. Nobody takes her seriously anymore. And these days, any ABCD can write for WaPo. It's standards have fallen real low.

Bollywood always show nonsense, dont worry, best to leave such countries, dont leave in such places, they show stupid nonsense like marrying father in law in halala when it is clearly not allowed, but then they can only criticized with lies and propaganda. They probably think triple talaq means saying talaq 3 times as well 🤣 this is a normal problem with people who had education from schools.

The Left (CPI and CPM) is the reason why West Bengal has been left behind all other Indian states. Otherwise during the days of British, Calcutta was their capital and Bengal the richest state. Bengal today would have been on another level, maybe even the best in the world if it wasn't for the rule of the Left for decades. They just didn't do any development, rather made it economically weaker.

Even in Kerala, there is no development. People eithrr go to UAE or North India for jobs. Look at the condition of Covid in Kerala, it has been total mayhem. Covid never ended there at all, even when the cases came down in other states.

The Left may have an ideology of equality for all, especially the poor. But it's all a facade. Communism in India means no development.
