Nope. Both actors have their own strengths. Just like RS couldn’t have done Barfi, RK couldn’t have pulled off Bajirao or Khiji either. Ranbir is too boyish to convince me that he can do those kind of roles. But I’m willing to be challenged into changing my mind because I do consider RK a brilliant actor.

Seems like I always have the unpopular opinion in this forum because I loved Ranveer in Padmavat. He was the only reason I didn’t fall asleep in the movie. I can’t imagine anyone playing such a menacing character and still look both terrifying and hot at the same time. 😂

Ranbir does not look like he can play a warrior. He would look out of place in BM and as Khilji.

Ranbir can only play one kind of role which is the man child. He’s been playing it since 2009

Ranbir's forte is overgrown poor little rich brat roles.

He has too urban image. A manchild.

I doubt if he could pull off Khilji and Bajirao or Akbar well.

He cannot do masala films like Simmba either. We know how Besharam panned out.

As long as he plays poor little overgrown rich brat trying to find love or trying to come of age, he is fine. In other genres? Ahem ahem.

Too much of a polished urban chocolate boy to look like a warrior from medieval era or even a cop or a Dharavi slum guy.

Forget Khilji or Bajirao, he is a misfit even in Gully Boy, Agneepath, War etc type films.

Nahhh, Ranbir can't do such OTT theatrics - Reason why that stupid masala movie of his failed big time!

With due respect Ranbir looks too cute to ever look menacing or aggressive.

I cannot imagine him doing Agneepath, War, Baaghi type films either. A lusty invader like Khilji is out of question.

Leaving OTTness aside, Ranbir otherwise also hardly manages to look menacing or evil. He has a certain cute type face like his dad and cannot look menacing, evil or ruthlessly aggressive.

His anger also looks normal which we see in everyday life. Not the explosive type required in action films or battle scenes.

It would be a surprise if Ranbir ever manages to pull off playing a ruthless evil villain. He seems more suitable for a charming type or obsessed lover type villain at the most. But not the ruthless invader full of lust.

Nor do I think he will take a risk at peak of his career to play a lusty ruthless invader lest it spoils his image.

Khilji type roles are a huge risk for a young actor in terms of image among masses. Not everyone has gumption to take such risks. Kapoor lad keeps it safe playing bazillion coming of age manchild characters in YRF, Imitiaz Ali or Dharma films.

He is a limited genre actor like his parents.
