It's not character issue. It's writing/showing audience the story issue.
If we had seen a progression of his story and got some more epis on him as a character, his reactions to situation would make sense. Abhi don't need redemption or he's not butchered. And as story had progressed to stupid behen ka pati and psycho third angle track they can't reset it. Ab he will see the sisters dynamic and makers again rushing with uska bf mera hai and shadi drama. Yrkkh was about shadi, but also about relationships. Hell, this show had 1 month long shadi drama for a house staff character. But audience watched cause they cared, for the house staff and other characters. How can they root for do din ki toddler after a dude who's clearly not interested and forced shadi drama?
I would have rather they too a short leap -2/3 months maybe post the engagement drama. Arohi still after him but he's aloof. Akshara away from town and not quite happy. Then she returns for some xyz reason and their paths cross. This time no fall catch, slow progression, angst, relationship explore between sisters, abhi with both sis, the elders in both fam. There can be high point in every epi.
-akshara coming back
-their paths crossed
- elders contemplating about the kids
- aro learning the truth (2/3 epis on her tantrums)
-abhi bursting out on his mom regarding akshu
- abhi ka dad and manush having some tashan
Etc.
