Today's episode just exhausted me. Matlab the level of hypocrisy that exists all around, with people being measured with different scales just based on their gender, sometimes appalls me.
Aparna's hypocrisy made me truly drop my jaw. I know she has always sided her DIL's more than her own son, but atleast in Malini's case, she tried to patch them up, so that they spoke to resolve their differences. Yahaan pe toh Imlie, bechari ne itna saha hai, that she no longer wants her son to be associated with her anymore, just so that her bahu can apparently take a solo flight. She would rather jump on to the Arylie ship like the others, rather than actually get these 2 in a room to sort out their differences. Rest of the T's are as useless, if not more, more so with Rupi & Nishant, who rather than actively try to find a way to resolve this situation, or at least try to understand their sibling's pain, are more interested in taunting the unwanted guest in the house. BTW, it is so funny that her dialogue today actually made sense - she is actively having to do nothing, while Adi and Imlie are hell bent in destroying their relationship in their own bitterness.
Imlie apology, though heartfelt, rang the same way that Adi's line - "Hum sirf tumhare hai, focus on us rather than Malini". She is equally naïve in assuming that removing Malini from the T house is going to resolve this issue - because it is not. Unless all there address the elephant in the room (in this case the baby & Malini's feelings for Adi) and make sure all are on the same page, nothing is ever going to get resolved. Adi and Imlie's relation will only fester with this unresolved issue, while Malini will be playing bechari single mom who is being forced to raise a baby by herself to suit Imlie's wishes. Either way Malini has won - she has successfully separated the both of them without actually trying. While Imlie is holding on to her zid of traversing her path on her own without taking Adi's help, while Adi is still at sea and assuming that Imlie doesn't need him anymore. While Malini ne chingari phenki, inke rishte ko jalaya sirf in done ne hi. While Adi is still trying, Imlie is hell bent on not seeing past her zid, which has brought them to this point.
The entire dupatta fiasco is something that really makes me roll my eyes. Feminists are arguing that a woman's dupatta does not hold her izzat, and him taking it away id no big deal, while the others are outraged that ASR is doing something so horrible as to luto the izzat of a young married girl.
My issue is beyond that - either way I see it, what bothers me is that Imlie prefers to slot both men in her life in the same bracket. While she has no feelings for Aryan, her assuming that he, like Adi will fall in line if she behaves the same way with him as she once did with Adi, will not work. The main reason again is intent (the comparison between how ASR is now, vis-a-vis how Adi was before he fell in love with Imlie). Aryan's intent is to put down Imlie to show that only he can show his magnanimity by pulling her up. In contrast, while Adi used harsh words, he always knew his boundaries with her and never tries to push that to send her away. Aryan's intent is to use Imlie as a tool, while Adi's intent was to tolerate her till he could figure out where she fit in his life. While Aryan uses derogatory words and insinuations to show that he is superior, Adi made indirect comparisons to remind Imlie that he already had someone in his life, so she does not fit - something she herself was aware of. Aryan's intentions are sketchy, while Adi's intentions and purpose was clear from day one to Imlie and made sure both were on the same page with respect to her place in his life.
This new dost is going to be creating a lot of problems for Imlie in the future that is clearly visible. The person she assumes will be the wind beneath her wings is actually going drag her down as part of his revenge, while the person she assumed never allowed to fly is going to be the one who will set her free and push her out of the ghonsala with all the required arsenal to make her fly high.
