I know this is very cliche but the only thing that I can think of is Suhani's dad has promised her hand to someone when she was a kid. That's why he wants her to stay away from boys and no go to a co-ed school. What else could it be?

See that’s what I can only think of, but then I’m like her father is very conservative so that’s why he’s like that. He even said he’ll get her married off if complaints come from the college 😆 so it doesn’t seem plausible to me
