Alam was terrifying to say the least. That show and that character was such a life lesson for all of us. Even the Devil can sometimes disguise himself as the most attractive and charismatic person.

I might have forgotten to mention this but what truly frightened me was how unaffected and detached he was. He didn't care who he hurt. All he cared for was to satisfy his own sadistic thirst to destroy lives, and he did it without batting an eyelid. I was undeniably attracted to Alam, I still am, which should disgust me. For some weird and twisted reason it doesn't. 😳

I am forgetting the episode number, but when he comes to seek forgiveness from Maryam, my heart ached seeing him on his knees with his hands joined. He was the devil truly, a vile, loathsome man. Yet I felt pain.

Those conflicting emotions really took a toll on me by the very end. When he shot himself, and the last scene when Maryam sits with Shaan, I felt very empty and hollow. Alam was known for ruining lives, but how had he taken away a part of me, especially since he is fictional?

It is very difficult for any maker out there to find someone who could fit this role to a T. I am glad that 7thSky chose Danish, they saw his potential, saw his level of talent and used it to the max. Whether it was Alam, Haaris, Sultan, Shah Jahan or Almeer, all these characters had their own charm and were brought to live beautifully by Danish.

I don't know if you know this but I wanted Sanam to play Nageen in Deewangi. Can you imagine how fiery the chemistry and the scenes would be? Unfortunately she had retired by that time.

@ bold, True that. What added to the element of fear is the fact that he was too close to reality. There are people like him who can lull one into a false sense of security only to backstab at the end of the day and carry on with their day to day nonchalantly as if destroying someone's entire existence is mere child's play for them.

As far as getting attracted to him is concerned then you are not the only one for he can evoke feelings of fascination, disgust and attraction either all at once or turnwise. I know many who won't admit it but it is difficult to not get drawn towards him irrespective of whether the said attraction is momentary or a lingering one. I don't feel guilty for saying this but I craved to see more of Alam post the realisation of his feelings for Maryam. Maybe I am a sadist but I wanted to see him pining for her and making one last attempt to get her back before realising that he can never have her.

@purple, Danish. It's all Danish. That man is a genius and he lived Alam's character. Every single emotion that we experienced while watching the drama is because of him. 7th Sky really does know how to utilise him properly and I am grateful to them for it.

@pink,This is another thing we both have in common. Had it been Sanam who played Nageen then the chemistry would have been off the charts. She's such a fine actress forreal who can pull off both grey and white characters without appearing making them appear obnoxious or boring. It's a pity that she quit acting.

There was a scene in Episode 7 where Alam is drinking by himself and Malik is in the room. Alam commands Mallik to go give Mariam an ultimatum to either pay up or sleep with the Minister. Mallik is visibly upset because his conscience has started to scream at him and his wife had left him some days ago.

Alam looks at Mallik, mistakes that emotion for something entirely different and what he said sent chills down my spine: "Chahiye kya? Arey kya nahi sir darrta kyu hai?! Jaan-e-Alam ke khaas aadmi ho tum...tumhe bhi mauka diya jayega, lekin kaam ka ek usool hai...Minister sahab ke baad."

I have to give it to the screenplay and script writer, the director and the costume designer for keeping it all so real. They made everyone in the show look like regular people, whom you would cross paths every single day. There was no escapist fantasy. Despite Alam being filthy rich, I am glad he did not have the larger-than-life persona like Sultan Durrani- thanks to Danish. He knew where to draw the line.

I must mention here that its not just his looks and sex appeal (which he had in plenty, all he wanted to do was bang and exploit naïve women) that got me attracted to him. It was his charisma and persona. Even after seeing his entire story, I felt like there was a lot more to him we didn't know. And the character was so well crafted and portrayed that the sense of mystery still lingered. This mainly has to do with Danish, because there are many such criminals in the real world who I loathe to the core and don't feel an ounce of attraction (like a normal person lol).

Agreed about the post-leap scenario. I wanted to know how come Alam fell in love with Mariam. That came out of nowhere, and was the only part of the show that did not make any sense to me. Alam wanted her to sleep with the minister and was handing her as a gift, later he married and took her innocence as a part of his revenge. There was nowhere even the hint of a love story, and all of a sudden he was in love with her.

But I do think Alam not trying to make a last attempt makes sense. He knew what he did, to what extent he had traumatised and harassed the girl. He literally snatched everything and everyone she loved from her and left her to fend for herself. That was realism right there, when Mariam forgave him because she wanted to move on, and Alam did not try to woo her.

Ab Dekh has to be Danish's best portrayal ever. I know Sultan Durrani will be his breakthrough character, but the way he lived Alam and made us live through this entire rollercoaster of emotions and anxiety was sheer brilliance. I am hoping 7thSky gets him on board for another show after KTK, something more script-oriented and with scope of performing. Waise, scope ho ya na ho, Danish bana hi leta hai.

Sanam retiring is a real loss because she is such a great performer and I find her very beautiful. She looked like a princess in the Walima look in Ab Dekh. There's no chance of her returning for even a single show now. She's taken up a religious path, according to articles, and has delted all her pictures from her social media, except her wedding photos.
