Absolutely. Sultan and Shahzaib would've both been very 2D characters had it not been for Danish. In fact, Muneeb is playing a role similar to Sultan's in Baddua, but he falls flat. It was Danish who adds something extra to all his characters.

Even if we got back to his full on villain avatar, Jaan-E-Alam, he made the guy super scary. And you know what the scary part was, Alam never resorted to violence himself. He didn't do the dirty work. One would think he'd raise his hand and physically hurt Mariam but no, he got married to her, slept with her, sl*t-shamed her and divorced her on the day of their Walima. He also dated and seduced Noor-U-Saba, used her for his pleasure and when she got pregnant and pressurised for marriage, he manipulated the situation into getting her to abort the baby and then dumped her.

That is so much more dangerous because this kind of scarring and trauma never goes away. And it could've easily fallen flat because Alam's wickedness was in his expressions and attitude, and the way he would manipulate everyone around him. Danish did such a brilliant job in that show, that I genuinely was terrified of him and hated him for a while 😆 Although Alam too was incredibly hot ☺️🤣

Talking about the same show, Sanam had a very bechara role too, but look at the way she acted. You would feel complete sympathy and remorse for her, and both of them acting so well that the push-pull was worth watching. Additionally, they had such great chemistry in those few romantic scenes, that you'd hate yourself for shipping Alam with Maryam, wanting a happy ending for him.

The teasers of Ishq Hai did lead to those comparisons. The gun scene and Shahzaib's maniac smile at the end reminded everyone of Sultan. In fact there were so many saying he's doing the same thing. But it wasn't the same at all. Danish changed his appearance, made himself look older, and there was literally no visible signs of Sultan on his face and body. In fact I didn't see even a glimpse of Sultan when Shahzaib was on screen.

@bold: So freakin true babe, you hit the nail on the head.

If you cannot perform, then at least don't behave in such a silly way. Instead, try harder. And stop comparing yourself to someone who's been in the field longer than you have. One argument can be that Minal has also been around for 10 years, but there is a difference between being a child artist and an adult in leading roles. Despite her experience, we didn't feel for Isra, especially when we should have.

Ah Alam!!! I have a love-hate relationship with him. I don't think I have mentioned this in our previous interactions but ADKKKH was the drama that introduced me to Danish. Now Alam was a character who managed to terrify me and that's something which very few villains have managed to do so far. By my own admission,I am an unapologetic villain collector😆. A character like Alam,in the hands of the wrong actor, could have resulted in a disaster but the right actor can make a masterpiece out of it which is precisely what Danish did. The very purpose of that character was to generate conflicting emotions within us. We were supposed to loathe him and so we did but there was also this guilty part of us that was attracted to him and, understandably so,for Alam was a vile demon in the skin of an attractive angel and even the best of us would have tough time resisting his charm. One could see how he managed to ensnare Noor Ul Saba and even Maryam who had already been bitten once. Without lifting a finger,he played those women like fiddles and crushed their spirits. What would happen when you combine a character of this kind with an actor of DT's calibre? You will get invested completely. He will make your skin crawl and you will hurl all kinds of curses at him but it will be him on your mind nevertheless. I remember wishing to see Alam burn in agony and be tormented upon seeing Maryam happy with his brother. I wanted to see him getting tortured by the thought of what could have been his but can never be. It's another matter altogether that he chose the coward's way out. Nonetheless he succeeded in leaving a tremendous impact upon the audience. That alone is a statement about how outstanding an actor Danish is.

Sanam was equally good if not more. She played the part of a delicate and innocent lamb who was unwittingly caught in the clutches of a wolf to the point of perfection. Her portrayal of Maryam's trauma, grief and PTSD was top notch. And her onscreen chemistry with Danish was,in a way, enchanting. Their contrasting energies complimented each other. Back then I really wanted them to reunite in a drama where he plays a character as attractive as Alam sans the irredeemable aspect. And I got my wish in Deewangi except it wasn't Sanam who was opposite him. But life isn't perfect 😆

Be it a fully fledged dark character,an antihero or a misunderstood one with shades of grey,Danish clearly gives in his all to his work and he always brings something new to the table and rightfully gets appreciated for it.

@bold,Exactly. Irrespective of the field we are in,there is always going to be someone who is better than us. Now we can either stay bitter about it forever or work on ourselves and improve.

But Sultan was old formula in a new bottle. We've had tonnes of characters like him before.

Giving the character depth was all thanks to the actor ❤️

Bingo. Sultan was the archetypal M&B hero and the formula has been rinsed and repeated countless times. However not every actor managed to shine in those.

Didn't I tell you guys she writes very well? 😃❤️

Alam was terrifying to say the least. That show and that character was such a life lesson for all of us. Even the Devil can sometimes disguise himself as the most attractive and charismatic person.

I might have forgotten to mention this but what truly frightened me was how unaffected and detached he was. He didn't care who he hurt. All he cared for was to satisfy his own sadistic thirst to destroy lives, and he did it without batting an eyelid. I was undeniably attracted to Alam, I still am, which should disgust me. For some weird and twisted reason it doesn't. 😳

I am forgetting the episode number, but when he comes to seek forgiveness from Maryam, my heart ached seeing him on his knees with his hands joined. He was the devil truly, a vile, loathsome man. Yet I felt pain.

Those conflicting emotions really took a toll on me by the very end. When he shot himself, and the last scene when Maryam sits with Shaan, I felt very empty and hollow. Alam was known for ruining lives, but how had he taken away a part of me, especially since he is fictional?

It is very difficult for any maker out there to find someone who could fit this role to a T. I am glad that 7thSky chose Danish, they saw his potential, saw his level of talent and used it to the max. Whether it was Alam, Haaris, Sultan, Shah Jahan or Almeer, all these characters had their own charm and were brought to live beautifully by Danish.

I don't know if you know this but I wanted Sanam to play Nageen in Deewangi. Can you imagine how fiery the chemistry and the scenes would be? Unfortunately she had retired by that time.
