The Ayushmann formula is beginning to pall after Kartik Aaryan and Rajkummar Rao have decided to join the bandwagon. Dinesh Vijan is the common factor and the offender I guess. He greenlights those type of movies without properly working on them. Hum do hamare do, Mimi, Bala,HMade in China, Do,Luka Chuppi,Stree all come from the same template. I almost forgot that he was the producer of Sriram Raghavan's edgy Badlapur and Agent Vinod..

Tell that to the producers of Article 15, Chhapak, Saand Ki Aankh, Aligarh, etc. I do not remember any recent movie in the last decade which tackled serious social issue that actually found wide acceptance with the audience, without falling for the comedy/small town routine.

Not necessarily.

Article 15 was a critical and commercial success, and won accolades.

Saand Ki Aankh wasn't panned down for its content. Only the casting of young actors casting created controversy.

Chapak was panned because it was just a bad film. No one held anything against the topic.

Uyare (2019 Malyalam film) on the same topic was widely accepted, and was commercial success too.

Kapoor & Sons (2016)
was a critical and commercial success.

Super Deluxe (2019 Tamil film) wasn't a comedy, and was widely accepted.

Made In Heaven, a 2019 web series having a gay main character with prominent arc was successful too.

Even Fashion in 2008 had a sensitive portrayal of a gay character.

So, IT CAN BE DONE in mainstream content. But somehow the makers don't want to do it thr right way.

Are people really wanting makers to be more direct with the plot? I for one know if that was the case no family would openly go and watch this movie. I think the team has done a great job with this trailer because by portraying LGBT existence more subtly, it sort of shows its very normal and not dramatic or strange.

Looking forward to this! And yes finally an actor speaking proper Punjabi rather than the fake-Hindi version of it.

After that webshow, m not invested in this one (though I trust the movie makers to be more sensitive with sexuality and gender identity on screen as one step wrong would cause major issues for them)

But half the trailer was just dance shots toh kyun dekhu main? Plot ke naam pe banjar waali feeling aayi (no strong dialogues, even the acting seems their staple)

The only dialogue worth mentioning was the sister reminding him that Love finds a way.

M more excited for Ayushmann's other movie

TFS, not denying that Ayushmann and his plethora of social message based movies but it's too boring to see the whole small-town scene/rom-com angle. Execution was a bit too bolder than expected, would've preferred it to tone it down as it was filled with romance scenes that are typically portrayed amongst the ML-FL just like thrown in the air or something.

Only part that made somewhat of the sense was when Manvinder (Khurana's character) comprehends that Maanvi (Kapoor's character) is "she is a he" bit and he explodes over it. But, I felt the execution was really bland & not up to the mark.

I'm also feeling a bit disconnected with Kapoor's role, maybe should wait till the movie roles out.

I never liked Ayushmann Khurrana from the beginning. It is because of John Abraham he had a career from that fluke movie Vicky Donor in 2012....
