When you say you like my ShiVi more than the real one, I feel all sorts of feelings, yanno? Happy, of course but also satisfied, that I could create characters through my writing that appeal to my readers. I know a lot of things go wrong in canon, and writers usually sacrifice character arcs for sensation, or crazy plot points intended to gain TRPs. In the end, the characters you started out loving (and shipping) end up being strangers to you. This happens to me even in international shows, which is why fanfictions are so great. The original writers may have created the characters and their universe, but the FF writers take them beyond that, and sometimes end up having a deeper understanding of who the characters are than the og writers themselves (not saying I'm among these writers, but just saying)
