It took the Pandya Family less than 3 three days to hire a maid for the household chores and move on when it came to Raavi, it was almost as if nobody cared of her, Gautam and Dhara were having their own set’s of problems, so were Rishita and Dev, Krish couldn’t care any less, forever bunking classes and frolicking around with girls. Suman had no problem at all, in fact she was probably the only one who was the most joyful in the house when they had discovered that Raavi had left them, she had quietened down when it came to forcing the girl she had looked for him on him, but ke assumed that was because it wouldn’t be “appropriate” to get him married that soon, his mother was very society driven, on constant worry about who would think what about them.
Shiva on the other hand wallowed away in pain, self inflicted pain, he knew that it was him who pushed Raavi away from himself, and now that he was left all alone, he didn’t understand what to do, and so he threw himself into work, he worked day in and day out tirelessly, but then again there was only so much he could do, and so in his free time he introspected. His family did not care for Raavi, they enjoyed her labour for them but didn’t care for her pain, none of them even had the decency to call her family so see if she was alright. His mother had outright claimed that it didn’t matter to her even if she lived or died, and that hurt Shiva immensely, the girl he loved with everything thing in him , she didn’t matter to his family at all, the very same family for whom he would give his life up for did not care for the one who now meant more to him than everyone else.
It started slowly, Shiva began distancing himself from his family, he worked at the store religiously and tirelessly but often found himself feeling bereft of the joy he used to receive from working there, he had stopped speaking to everyone, replying in monosyllables, not bothering to engage in any sort of conversation with anyone, gone was the Shiva who was famed for his flamboyant and angry persona, that Shiva had gone with Raavi, all of Somnath could see that, he wondered why his family couldn’t. His mother was still in the process of looking for brides, but after his reaction to Disha it was pretty clear that Shiva was not interested in anyone but Raavi.
Suman had spent every day cursing at the Kaagdi Ki Bhatiji, she wasn’t here with them physically yet she had managed to ensnare her Shiva and keep him away from leading a happy life, she had taken away all the happiness her child had, all that was left of him was a hollow shell.
What Suman refused to acknowledge was the fact it was not just Raavi, Shiva had pushed her away, Shiva had instigated her to slap, Shiva had kept her away from on purpose and in the end it was Shiva’s silence that pushed her away from him and broke the both of them.
3 months after Raavi left Shiva still could not get used to life without her, he thought the pain would have ebbed away or that he would have gotten used to it, pain was a part of life he had heard, he had learnt to live with pain, when his father passed away, when his mother was paralysed, when he saw his brother struggle, but this kind of pain? Pain that he inflicted upon himself was the worst kind, he had thought that pushing her away was painful, but knowing she left him due to his own stubborn attitude and ego? That pain was the worst sort, it left him in darkness, eternal darkness, he didn’t know what to do. He had steadily lost interest in matters of the store, spoke to only one person, his school-friend Mahesh, he was the only one who had listened patiently to Shiva, he didn’t judge him at all, he listened, he understood what went wrong, he gave him advices but he also drew boundaries, boundaries that Shiva never learnt to draw. He was the one who encouraged Shiva with his own start up, Shiva had immense business knowledge and acumen, thanks to all the years he had devoted to Pandya Store, with Shiva’s knowledge and Mahesh’s resources they were doing very well, they had opened up an event management business and handled everything, all thanks to Shiva’s years of experience from the amount of parties he had attended and organised at home, and now they were doing very well, on their way to host their first event outside of Somnath, in Ahmedabad.
Raavi on the other hand had a very different set of 3 months, the pain and anger at loosing Shiva soon ebbed away, thanks to the fact that there was no one to influence her emotions there, she could think freely and she took the opportunity to reflect back on what went wrong, a lot of things had happened in constant succession, anger and ego being the first and foremost emotions that she had displayed when it came to Shiva, Shiva was like that one wound that she knew would never heal, her love for him was her Achilles heel. Always. It took her two weeks to pull herself together, she threw herself into work, not for revenge or to get back on anyone, but simply because she had to do something, she needed to do something, she analysed her strengths, she could organise well and was a terrific cook, perhaps that would come in handy she had thought, and then opened her little catering business, her first clients had been a widowed woman and her son, who had come to her for the party they had wanted to through for their daughter/sister, Anupamaa. It had only gone uphill for Raavi ever since.
Today was a very important day for both Shiva and Raavi. They were going to meet today. Time had done its job, they had healed and now it was time, for them to finally come together.
