Salman Khan to receive Variety Zee Cine Award
New Delhi, April 26: Bollywood hunk Salman Khan has been named the 2008 winner of Indian cinema prize the Variety Zee Cine Award. The actor will pick up the accolade at a ceremony due to be held at London's Docklands this weekend.
The prize is handed out to the individual responsible for helping to take Bollywood culture to a global stage.
Khan succeeds last year's winner, producer Yash Raj Chopra who was bestowed the award for his contribution to the Indian film industry.
Six other awards will be presented at the 14th annual ceremony, which is aired in 128 countries to an audience of 500 million.
